NoScans: First look at Blue Beetle movie costume

Just Jared has posted photos of Xolo Maridueñ as Jaime Reyes in his Blue Beetle costume from the set of the upcoming "Blue Beetle" movie.



And they've gone a lot mroe comic book look than I expected.







I imagine, if the Scarab armour morphs like it does in the comcis, that there will be a lot of CGI over the top, but I hope not too much as I do like the look of this as is.

I see somebody in the background wearing a Pym Technologies t-shirt. Is that allowed on a DC set?

According to twitter that guy is actually the character model for Jaime's friend Paco, believe it or not.

I... kinda don't? He has a tool belt and he's holding a prop - that suggests a techie.

What's even crazier to me about these set pics of xolo_mariduena in costume as #BlueBeetle is that the guy behind him in the Pym Tech shirt is my old roommate... and was my model for the character of Paco in the comic. He's a crew member on the film, no lie.

I assume a lot of CGI coming to spruce it up but actually looks good.

The actor has the right look for Jaime as well :)

It's no different from when they posted the Captain Marvel set pics. Heck, in comics terms this is equivalent to posting the character modelling art.

This costume could really work in a tokusatsu setting.

Agreed, and that works for the character. (I was also thinking Guyver, but that's probably showing my age)

The dark expanse between the bright blue at chest and shins really makes him look stretched here, but I'm sure it'll look fine in motion!

On the one hand, the suit does look good and could look better when gone over with CGI.

On the other hand, according to the cast list on imdb, Brenda and Paco aren't in this.
