Jon kent tries to form a new Justice League. Many heroes reject his offer. But does find people to recruit and join him eventually.

Slade leads an army of villains to the Teen titans tower. After he bombs part of it. So to finish off any surviving Titan.

*Bang* It is left ambiguously if Beast boy dies or not.

Pariah is going to used the power of the “death” of the Justice League to destroy the multiverse and restore pre-crisis multiverse-2. We also find out that the justice league are alive, but trap in Pariah dimensional computer machine.

DC has a thing doesn't it with constantly threatening the Multiverse, destroying it, and then rebuilding it, but rarely doing anything with the various other worlds after all is said and done.

Like, you've got various Elseworld Earths you could do something with, and most of the time the characters appear for a cameo or small supporting role, and then nada. Or they get wiped out in the reset to show how big the peril of the latest Crisis is...

I might've said this before, but of late I'm really starting to fear that DC knows (has known all along?) the Multiverse(tm) is really a lot smaller and less versatile than it looks. You can stick Batman or Superman in fifty different time periods or genres, but ultimately at least forty-eight of them are just going to amount to a change of clothes over the same old plots. And in the few Elseworlds where capital-C Change is allowed to happen, the story logic usually leads to all the familiar faces dying/retiring, leaving behind an Earth that's basically no good as anything but cannonfodder anyway.

Can't have a crisis without killing a few Titans, I guess.

It feels like adult Jon doesn't get to struggle much, so it's nice to see him conflicted here.

Honestly, that's some impressive depth of DC characters, considering. It shouldn't feel weird to see Ryan Choi (unless I'm wrong) hanging around, but it is nice to see him

Kinda weird seeing some of these people be all "no thanks" to joining the Justice League. I mean the League's had worse recruitment drives in the past.

Honestly, in a world with hundreds of superheroes running around, the loss of like, 8, no matter how big, shouldn't feel all that impactful. Especially not when most of them have died and returned before.

And of course it's only a Crisis if you attack Titans Tower and injure/kill a few Titans. It was just Gar's time. I'm sure he'll be okay. But they literally rebuilt the tower like, 5 minutes ago, sheesh.

Yeah, I get Black Adam not wanting to take orders from Superman Jr but you'd think an Elder Titan or two would step up or the JSA or Outsiders or whoever would lend a hand.

Heck, I'd be more worried the power vacuum would attract undesirables. Remember when Superman died in the cartoon and Lobo decided they needed him? What about the 52 team?

(Then again, Harley is the Modern Day Ambush Bug)

Sure, many of these new members are on the young side, but it's not like most of them are incompetent or ineffective heroes (Booster's rep notwithstanding).

I guess the current status of "JLA is dead, all bad guys free for all" means most people are staying with their current teams (JSA/Titans/Outsiders, etc) rather than double dip or jump ship.

But hey, this team has two Supers, a Robin, an Aquaman, and some others who have actually served on a Justice League in the past. Works for me.

Joshua Williamson is Geoff Johns' Geoff Johns, and we will all live to see Joshua Williamson's Joshua Williamson.

It’s a shame we never get to see Simon Baz with Jessica Cruz anymore, I loved their dynamic in Sam Humphries’ Green Lanterns.

Didn’t Deathstroke vow to fight the Great Darkness or something? Why’s he leading villains in causing carnage?

It's implied that coming back from the dead made him even more of an asshole than he usually is because the Lazarus Pits bring out the worst in people when they're used regularly and Slade being brought back from the dead with one might have itensified that effect

Though I mean

It's Slade

Being a dickhole is not new beaviour for him

The new do is though

What in gods name did he do to his hair

I miss Simon and Jess getting to team up as well :(

They were a fun duo!

I'll give you two hints. It's DC and he was just involved in a storyline involving the Al Ghuls.

Doesn't really explain the haircut but

I'm not liking who they chose for the apparent Titans sacrifice.

I can't tell if my apathy towards this event is due to my age or the laziness of the execution. The second I read "The Justice League is dead!" I said out loud "No it's not." But I'm old and don't know shit so what I really feel about this event is

I hope there are young people out there that enjoy this crisis, and are genuinely excited about it and are emotionally invested in the characters involved. I hope there's a kid out there waiting for Jon to overcome all odds and become the Superman we know he can be, the same way Dick growing into Batman got me back into comics. I hope this does well because I don't want anyone to feel discouraged about liking comic books, no matter how ridiculous they can be.

What's with Black Adam objecting to Doctor Light's age? She has three kids, she's not a grandma. Not sure why being older would matter much to someone who hit quadruple digits in the Middle Ages.

He's right about Harley being a bad choice, though.

Oh look, Prometheus is a background flunky. My, how the mighty have fallen.

Slade, I know getting pwned by Geo-Force is enough to give anyone a midlife crisis, but my god man, look at yourself! A skull pummel? Head tattoos and a mohawk? You're at least three decades too late for an edgelord phase.

Seriously, what does age matter when it hasn't weakened those powers any. You're fighting a great darkness. You want someone with light. Halo would be another good choice. She was able to slay Black Lanterns.

Let Halo do something important?
What do you think this is, Young Justice?

Huh. Who's the blonde dressed like June Cleaver standing next to Deathstroke?

I can already see how Beast Boy survived. Like he took on aspects of an animal rather than a full transformation. Or perhaps he turns into a phoenix again. There's plenty of room for loop holes here.

And here I was going to make a remark about how this event would kill off a minor yet beloved character in a needlessly grim and / or unpleasant fashion to show things were serious.
Beaten to the punch.

It's probably gonna be the same old as we've had from DC over the last sixteen years.
Villain rambles on about how everything's Grim and Dark. The heroes punch them out while making some speech about how everything's not Grim and Dark. The event ends with heroes talking how everything will now be light and positive again.
And then in three months time someone will rip a Teen Titan in half and we'll be right back in there again. And there will still be endless series about Black Adam and Deathstroke anyway.
(sorry, just... so burnt out on DC's Crises and multiverse macgubbins.)

I don't understand how this 'death of the Justice League' is enough to trigger all these events. It's a tiny fraction of the heroes of Earth, and we've had bigger death tolls in previous crises that didn't lead to all these uprisings.

If, like HALF the currenlty active heroes died, mayyybe. But these, what, six people? That's a drop in the ocean of opposition to any super-villains.

Maybe it's because it's so many big names 'dying' all at once?

-_-

So uh

Did DC really just have the big event comic that started during Pride Month begin by violently killing one of their few queer characters?

That sure is a choice

Jon wanting Black Adam's approval for his Justice League is comically silly to me

"Oh gee you don't think we're the heroes the world needs?

Well golly Mr Adam, maybe some of us should go slaughter the population of an entire country, maybe then we'll meet your high standards of heroism"

DC really wants us to think Deathstroke is a big deal and all I can think is how much cooler this story would be if someone like Prometheus or The Key or Dr Cyber or Dr Sivana or Lex Luthor or hell even Dr Destiny were leading the Society instead of the punk ass motherfucker whose only big "Win" in his entire career involved statutory rape and being too much of a chicken shit coward to fight teenagers one on one

I do like the Society line up and them being a thing again. I hope it'll last past this. I think the Secret Society of Supervillains is a cool concept. Lots of ways to bring in lots of obscure villains and maybe do some cool stuff with them

Black Adam bringing up Dr Light's age is downright bizarre

Also not wanting to go all "If he's so smart how come he's DEAD" here but

It's also kind of unintientionally hilarious that Black Adam says that this new League can't possibly measure up to his when he spends the issue laying in a bed or insulting people and then running away while we see these heroes saving lives and foiling villains in this around the DCU montage
