I was kind of intrigued by this title at first because I thought the premise would be, like, What If Miles inherited the legacy of these different heroes instead of Spider-Man, but these scans make these issues look like “What If Miles Morales was literally just XYZ?”. Does Loki at least get a Prowler suit?

That’s really the issue with all the Miles What Ifs. Like there’ll be his uncle as an antagonist figure, Ganke as a supporting, etc.

I think the issue is that Miles isn’t really that defined of a character to make something like this work. I guess maybe you could do something like the Hammer finds Miles worthy but he doesn’t want to become Thor and he freaks out (like how he did when he discovered he had Spider-Man’s powers) but…

You're not wrong. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Shameik Moore did a lot of heavy lifting to make Miles work in Spider-Verse.

I'm rereading Brian Azzarello's CAGE. His Marvel Max series about Luke Cage. It is chock full of slang and uses the N-word or an equivalency more than once. I have complex feelings about that, but I can tell a lot more effort was put into CAGE to sound genuine and make the environment seem lived in and natural.

How long have people been writing eddas in rap form considering New York ghettos and hoods (and everything that spawned from them) as we know them have only been around for the past 100-ish years or so? Were the gods around for the Lenape or anyone who came before them?

It makes no sense. It's the World Tree. For a realm to exist, it must connect to it. So, what the writer is insinuating is that the animals that lived nearby never would have become gods. When the people crossed the frozen ocean into America, they never became gods? When the English arrived on the shores they didn't become gods?

My god...it's even MORE repulsive and nonsensical than I thought! How did it grow in Brooklyn?! It's the World Tree! It should have been there since Midgard's creation! There shouldn't BE a Brooklyn! The Indigenous people would be the gods! When the would be colonialists showed up, they would have been obliterated with their silly flintlock pistols and cannons.

And the appearance of the streets...shoes hanging from powerlines? Spraypaint? Does the writer think the current "culture" of black people is a result of their own actions instead of a response to the world around them? That this is the natural progression of African Americans?
