Considering that Bane is alive and well over in the Joker's series, the prevailing theory is that "Bane" here is actually Gotham, the wannabe Superman who went nuts and died during Tom King's run on Batman.

But then...how did he know about Alfred? How was Jason able to kick him off a building to his "death"?

Gonna guess that Rosenberg intended this to be the real Bane, and then was later told it wasn't.

Bothers the hell out of me when they do things like that. Just make a sudden change that contradicts the earlier story and we're just supposed to pretend it never happened. Like making Hank Hall into the Monarch. All signs pointed to Nathaniel Adams. It was obvious enough that the consumers had guessed the truth and they couldn't accept that.

I read "Hank," and "The Monarch," and spent about a minute trying to parse that into a Venture Brothers spoiler.

Honestly, I had to mull it over in my head, wondering if "Monarch" was indeed the name of the DC villain and I wasn't confusing it with Venture Brothers.

Mild spoiler, one of Amanda's Suicide Squad villains just happened to have a recording of Bane's brain current to after killing Alfred. Two-Face really wanted a zombie Bane for the rep, so they found someone else, pumped him with Venom, and recorded a copy of Bane's brain in even though they only wanted him as a big mindless zombie.

It's all nonsense, but I have to admire the hoops Rosenberg is jumping though to fix Editorial's mistake.
