The Grey Stuffed Mousie Group was tried first, but Black Cat lost interest in thirty seconds to go knock around the plastic ring from a milk jug.

Tigra's a were-cat. Feels like more people should be afraid of that.

So I get why they would have redone the rings for the movie, having just come off a whole "Here are five artifacts that each have their own special power and also you wear them on your hand," arc, but I did kind of like them as "And this is my ice ring, this is my lightning ring... this one does mind control..."

I was thinking the same thing. As a kid I thought thought the ten different rings was the coolest thing.

I haven't really followed Shang-chi, have they totally synergized the rings and the Mandarin? Like, the old guy with the alien rings who fought Ironman has actually been Shang-chi's dad all along and the ten different rings were actually just armbands of power? Or are the comics allowing both versions to exist?

The Mandarin and Shang-Chi’s dad Zheng Zu are two separate characters in the comics. The rings here aren’t the same rings that the Mandarin has (and in this comic Shang-Chi’s dad was looking for them but never found them).

So there is MCU synergy but only regards to Shang-Chi.
