Man, Magneto was *really* overconfident about facing that team-up of heroes with the lineup of Brotherhood mutants he had available.

Could be worse. They could have had Namor and Silver Surfer with them.

Yeah, against that version of the Defenders anything less than a Mephisto-level threat needs contrived circumstances to give them much trouble.

Yeah, the Defenders struggled with these villains more than they should have given that the likes of Doctor Strange and the Hulk were there.

It's somewhat evened out by Strange and Xavier being fairly vulnerable physically, but each of them is quite capable of one-shot-ing Magneto's entire team. And although Magneto can personally resist Xavier's psychic powers somewhat, there's no one present who can counter spells if Strange has time to cast one.

Meanwhile, I'm skeptical about Magneto being able to render the Hulk unconscious for long, and it would probably require most of his concentration just to keep him at bay.

That is a supremely outmatched Brotherhood. Unus, Blob, Mastermind, and Lorelei? The Defenders have the Sorcerer Supreme, the world's most powerful telepath, an Asgardian warrior, and an unstoppable rage monster. Any one of them could probably solo these flunkies.

Also the Brotherhood is technically outnumbered, but Nighthawk doesn't really count.

I guess things hadn't been great for the Brotherhood since the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver sold out.

Magneto's never had a great eye for talent. The original Brotherhood had Toad, and while Toynbee is actually kinda badass now, this was when his power was just hopping.

Hey, hopping is a very useful power. Or at least it should be. His kicks should have been lethal.

No, leaping is a very useful power. Toad's power was hopping. Kirby drew him as barely clearing 6 feet per hop. That's less badass than a small kangaroo.

I'm not sure Valkyrie could solo Blob. Hulk has to get pretty mad just to hurt him. Unless it's Grey Hulk, he can deal with Blob pretty well on his own. Just need to pull instead of push.

Dragonfang going missing was an "oh shit" moment in Jane Foster Valkyrie series. I wouldn't underestimate anyone wielding it, much less the leader of valkyrior.

If Dragonfang can cut him, that's great. If not, she's not going to match up with the strength of an enraged Hulk. I think Hulk managed to move him with that punch, his fat unable to push Hulk's fist away so it caused Blob to be sprung backward. I have it on good authority that moving the Blob is extremely hard to do. In fact, almost NOTHING MOVES THE BLOB.

Not sure where that line came from first, the arcade game or the X-Men pilot episode that never went anywhere.
