Now I've tried to be open minded about the DCnU, I really have (to the point of REALLY annoying some people I didn't meant to in the process)
I've given the new Blue Beetle a chance, but it's taking an awfully long, and rather over-violent time to get anywhere as promising as Jaime's original run was.
I've accepted that we'll never see a decent handover from Dick's mentoring of Damian to Bruce taking him on, and that Dick Grayson has had his entire circus past basically turned from "Idyllic childhood" to "Narrowly escaped hell on Earth" and that he was apparently 16 when he first appeared as Robin (which defeats the whole bloody point of the character IMHO) Okay, maybe "accepted" is putting it a bit strongly for that one... but I'm working on it, honest)
I'm resigned to the fact that the unique Oracle has become a generic Batgirl.
I've accepted that the Teen Titans I knew and grew up with now never happened, or didn't happen in anything like the same way it did before. And that Wally West and Garth are unknown quantities now... along with a host of others.
And I'm also aware of how bizarre some of the "We have to make these the iconic versions of the characters" choices have been, when other media with vastly larger viewerships than any comic has had in decades are cheerfully misximg and matching the history to their hearts content, and making it WORK.
But there were some things I thought might be perhaps too low profile to be messed with THAT much,
BTW If you thought Harley's makeover was a bit much, just wait until you see this...
