Neotopia part 5: Sky Pirates

Welcome to the last installment of our Neotopia series :) While last part would've been a good stopping point, I just had to include this one ^^



Were we last left Nalyn, she and her crew were on the run from Krossos.

Where we start this one, they're all dragged from their sleeping quarters to the deck with nary a word of explanation in the early morning.






That pissed Nalyn off. Being in her PJs probably isn't helping either, it definitely isn't helping Philios think. But being hijacked by sky pirates is almost contractually obligated, which she really should've been told in her training.

Eventually they decide there's only one civilized way to settle this: Captain Duel! Grand Duchess Nylandia of Mathenia vs Hyesh the Pirate King!

Nalyn is warned by her teacher that Hyesh is likely to try and get her to drop her guard with taunting.





Narrow victory because body armor actually WORKS in Neotopia!

Conceding defeat (I suspect in part due to lack of treasure to steal), Hyesh brings them back to their base, not as prisoners, but as guests.



They had been living there ever since being forced off their land some years before, not by Krossians, but by Mathenians.

Aaand that's where I'll stop. One more instance of Nalyn being badass and a view of what some of the world beyond is really like.

Well not as part of this series :) Between the five parts I've covered some key moments from the first arc + a bit beyond (still fairly early in the overall series, but I didn't want to go too far).

I might do other ones in the future, and there's nothing stopping other people from doing 'em.

Self-contained and five volumes in length. So it has a definite ending and all, it's just got a fair amount of material in it.

Ah, OK. So it's something like 'Bone', then - self-contained, but it takes some doing and a lot of plot twists before you reach the end.
