I can oddly see it, just how he embraced this mad mantra but I kind of like even the Joker himself thinks his past is "multiple choice."

...isn't Joker supposed to be bleeding from the eyes in that last shot?

Depends on the version. The original script and coloring has him just crying. Bolland added the blood in his recolor.

I've always preferred the original coloring. I think there's intended to be some ambiguity as to whether he's crying or it's just water dripping from his face, and the bloody tears completely remove that.

Yeah I like the recolor but the bloody eyes is one of the changes I felt was unnecessary.

Even all these years later, there's still something so blood-freezing about that illustration. I think it's the eyes -- the way he's breaking the fourth wall and looking right at you.

But seriously, this looks fine. I kinda wish DC did more forging ahead and less self-congratulation about how nerd-cool it was in the 1980s, but if you're gonna do that, this seems like a fun way to go about it. Zdarsky's stories are almost always energetic and show fresh thinking, so, tentative thumbs up.

But which one of the three Jokers is it about?

This sounds like nothing we haven't seen before. Not to mention it sounds like it's too definitive. Joker has, at best, a generally agreed upon origin. Unless it's written in a bizarre way, where the story seems to suddenly have branching paths and obvious inconsistencies, they're kinda going against the grain here.
