Whatever else happens in this series, I love it just for that. That meek little response from Bruce Wayne.

I do enjoy it whenever Alfred gives Bruce a necessary dressing-down.

Case in point: the only segment of All-Star Batman and Robin I unironically liked was when the Goddamn Batman pins Alfred against the wall when he learns he's been sneaking Dick proper food so he won't have to subsist on Batcave rats. Whereupon Alfred says: "Sir, I am your butler. I am your aide.I am your medic. I am not, however, your slave. Unhand me."

The God Damn Batman was lucky that's all Alfred did in response.

“Now what?”
“We have Superman dispose of the gun and the body in the sun, sanitize the scene, and never speak of this again. The Joker vanishes, and that’s the end of it. Also, we both get lots and lots of therapy.”

Of all the renditions of " the Joker fucks a Robin up " we've had, giving him uncomfortable pants and shoes is one of the less visceral ones.

Whenever I think of that movie, I marvel at how long it took me to see Joker's last trick before he died...the first time.

"I'll break you in two!"

"Oh, Batsy...if you had the guts for that kind of fun, you would have done it years ago. I, on the other hand..."
