Even given the nature of comics and his treatment the last few years, this seems a bit much.

At this point I'm starting to think that Parkers are some long forgotten branch of O'Briens.

I can't help but feel like this was conceived with Ultimate Spider-Man's existence in mind. "Hey, there's a book with a happy Peter Parker, so let's just go wild on this one!"

In Spencer’s run there was also the bit where Kindred kept on killing Peter, sending him to Hell, resurrecting him and repeating the process.

I gotta say, I'm not even particularly convinced this is agony for Peter. Oh, he says it is, and I'm sure it's physically painful, but...taking on a lot of physical pain in order to save others? How is that not every day of Peter's life? I'd be surprised if he didn't have a boner right now.
