In issue #2, Slade the Deathstroke'd seen his ex-wife Adeline killed by his daughter Rose - and seen Alec, the strange boy in " Addie "'s charge, send Rose flying with his strange " Green " power.
Afterwards, he and Alec buried Addie - and continued on her way, taking Alec to Gyllenhjem, what'd been the capital of Jarnlund before grey Allwinter'd fallen upon it.
They talked on the way - Alec's mission " to save the world " through his connection to the Green came up.

(He is indeed " Alec.. " as in " .. Holland ".)

What interrupted was that falling from above - something that crashed through the bridge, dropping Slade and Alec and the horse into the depths.
The one that fell from the highest height landed.

(Yes, it's Dark Knights of Steel's Bruce Wayne, who's half-Kryptonian because of a Martha riff.)
Slade attacked him.
(The mechanics of Slade throwing himself into combat after falling from a great height are vague.
Issue #1 depicts him as a berserker - easy to accord him endurance/toughness related to that.)

(Slade thinks Bruce is a third attempt by Vandar " Vandal Savage " Adg to get at Alec - a sloppy one.)

' Awake! "
Alec (who survived the fall through Slade and probably the Green as well) again channeled.
The coloring power of the Green threw Slade and Bruce apart. They got back up to go at each other again.
" Slade. Prince Bruce. Stop.
" Please. "
Slade was surprised by a " .. Prince? " in Jarnlund whose king'd long since passed - and Bruce was surprised by Jarnlund and its winter.
Bruce accepted his culpability in " damn near killing [Alec] ".

(A beat that downscales Bruce so that he can fit into this grittier fantasy story, with a bit of character acting in its execution.)
Bruce briefly described the journey he'd set out on at the end of Dark Knights of Steel to further explain himself.
" .. you might've asked me all this before you tried to kill me. "

(Slade had caught himself on the bridge, but then jumped down after Alec.)

(Love that panel-in-panel between Bruce and Alec.)

(The Green returns color, and later life - it brought back Slade's horse and what Bruce fell on.
Pagecount's just under 8 of 24 from Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter #3's main story in September 2024 - the backup's more about the setting's Aquaman, unrelated to this.
Issue #4 came out in October. It revealed the cause of Jarnlund's winter - if you look at Alec's " The Green told me about Viktor " and consider Bruce being in the story, you can guess who it is.
Writing's fantasy author Jay Kristoff, art's Tirso, and letters're Wes Abbott.
Publisher's DC.)
