Two years after the cancellation of his solo title, Machine Man reappears in the pages of Marvel Two-in-One.
Such is the slump in the character's already niche popularity, Aaron doesn't even get to be one of the two in Two-in-One.
Instead The Thing and Jocasta take top billing, but we do get a final visit to Delmar Insurance, because one thing superheroes really need is a friendly insurance agent.
By Tom DeFalco and Ron Wilson.

The issue starts with The Thing battling the Sphinx in Egypt, but we'll skip this side plot, only to note that in the process the Fantastic Four's pogo plane gets destroyed and Ben has to fly commercial home.
However, once back in New York, the Fantastic Four have an unexpected visitor.

Continuing the theme of the Avengers packing their less A-list members off and never checking in on them ever again.
Anyway, Mr. Fantastic puts a call in to the Avengers Mansion for info and is told about Jocasta's origins as the 'bride of Ultron'.

However, a distraction is the insurance claim for the wrecked pogo jet. Which means Ben gets packed off to the Fantastic Four's brokers - Delmar Insurance. Where we get the chance to check in with a certain Aaron Stack and his supporting cast.

'Met' is a strong word.
Elsewhere, Jocasta is invited to the opening of one of Alicia Masters' art shows, where she gets mistaken for a sculpture. However, something (or someone.. duh duh duhhhhh!) influences her mind and she bursts through a wall as if it was made of paper and runs off into the city.
Which causes Ben's shorts to go off.

"A lady robot, you say? My diodes tingle in anticipation!"
Interest peaked, Aaron jumps into action and out of retirement.

The enthralled Jocasta sets to work, hidden subprogramming setting her to the task of transferring Ultron's mind to a new body.

Ultron's planned destruction of his robotic rival is interrupted by The Thing joining the party, tasked with checking the maniacal mechanical's old hideout for Jocasta.

Aaron continues his habit of making dated pop culture references at times of crisis.
Will he survive against the combined forces of Ultron and the brainwashed Thing?
Will he conjur up the courage to talk to Jocasta now she appears to be conscious?
Find out next time!

Date: 2024-12-02 03:39 pm (UTC)The Avengers not caring much (or at all) about Jo's well-being is... pretty in keeping with their "stay out of each other's affairs" mentality.
Which probably could've stood some severe revision the first time one of them had a severe mental breakdown.
(never mind Cap's severe depressive episodes...)
