The Black Lanterns are all heading to the Central Power Battery to devour it. THe BL's form a giant black construct and attempt to just pick it up when Kyle and Guy release the Red Lantern Vise on them. THis is going well until one of the Alpha Lanterns kills Vice only to have his Battery ripped out by one of the kids. The Battery is breached and Kyle makes his decision:

Okay, I have to admit that I lol'd at the "Kyle-WHAT? SORANIK!" panel.

Well, Kyle certainly got a heroic sendoff. I'm particularily fond of his little smile just before detonation. Boy definatly went out like a hero.

Why does this come off as so cat-fighty to me? Maybe it's Natu's Buffy-esque banter at her "competition" that's trying to destroy her relationship. I have no idea.

And here comes my Jade bias, because I don't like seeing her body get desecrated like this, even if it's not her. It's kind of irrational of me. Anyway, it seals my apathy for this pairing, though on a shallow level, man Soranik is hot.

It's in bad taste. We know it's not supposed to be Jade, not really, but I can't help but think it's weird how Kyle is smiling at seeing the body of his ex girlfriend mutilated. While Jade is not really Jade Natu's words to her are as if she really was her rival...
and I don't particularly like Jade, and used to like Natu, but now this whole Kyle/Natu thing just isn't very convincing to me. I would have liked her being important to the story on her own and not as another love interest of an earth GL. (or with Iolande (if that's the right name of the princess GL))

As for Kyle- Nice death. Very heroic. But I have no doubts whatsoever he'll be back and soonish.

That's... That's actually a really, really good sendoff. If a character I like has to die (and they do), that's how they should go. To be honest, I'm not even quite as convinced as I was now that he's coming back. That was epic.

Because he "escaped" his science-cell and that's punishable by death after the big breakout a few issues ago. Alpha Lanterns follow the law to the letter so it doesn't matter that Kyle and Guy released him.

All I gotta say is I'm gonna be super pissed if DC keeps up that "we're not bringing back Ted/whoever because they had a ~*~meaningful death~*~" crap after they inevitably bring back Kyle.

Does anyone else get this uneasy feeling that they're going to get rid of all the Eath lanterns except for Hal?

Think about it: First, Kyle gets killed. Next, Guy becomes a red lantern. Plus, John has just descended onto the surface of a zombified Xanashi.

In the first shot (the two holding the baby) that's not a certain couple that were former married lanterns, is it?

You mean the Prees? No. The eyes are far too small, the male's not bald, the female's hair is all wrong, and they lack facial markings.

They're obviously OTHER victims of Kryb's, though. The ones in the foreground, from the colouration, I would guess are Jeryll and her mate Tywene, the couple the Prees were told about Kryb murdering when they were transferring Lyssa Drak. The ones in the back (also clearly not the Prees) are the Lantern of 1067 and his wife...who...may also be a Lantern, but I just skimmed the issues, so I can't be sure, but she wasn't in uniform when killed, if so.

Maybe now that Kyle died it's like a clean slate again and when he's back (and he will) he won't have the curse that kills of his girlfriends anymore? Or maybe he just passed it on to Soranik....
