I like Vibe because he seems like one of those characters that was designed first and written second. Looking at him in costume you'd probably never know he lead a gang in Detroit.

Green Arrow didn't like him much though.

And he probably has one of the most underwhelming deaths in comic books.

That's what you get for wearing that awful green belt. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Perhaps you would have been spared if you were a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Detroit JLA, what a low point. Even the black lantern version are pathetic. Bruce Timm 's Summation on the season 3 JLU documentary sums it up well...

Wait, he's actually called Vibe?

I know it's cheap, but still...

Still nothing compared to the Spider-Man villain "The Shocker", who was originally intended to be called "The Vibrator"...

That cyborg-guy was made for the internet. "I Am Not Programmed For Failure" is solid gold meme material.

I programmed a robot for failure once.

Turned out better than I expected.

Yeah. I have a feeling they're not going to even bother reburying the guy when he gets re-dead.

Yes, JLA Detroit! Much love for that team (as a concept, anyway).

The death was sort of underwhleming, but that was the whole point.

Vibe was becoming more aware of his limitations as a hero, just before this, he saved a child's life, and STILL told the child to stay true to his extant Superman hero worship rather than becoming a fan of him, because Superman deserved it more, and then to die in such an ignominious fashion made it a powerful moment. He didn't ever get the blaze of glory he wanted, he was murdered by an android, who then essentially defiled the body by fusing a mask of Ivo to his face.

Oh, and anyone who Green Arrow doesn't like actually goes slightly UP in my estimation. Green Arrow kept drivelling on about the fact the JLA should be heroed for the little guys from the street. Vibe WAS the hero from the little guys on the street, and whilst not perfect by any means, had had a harder life than Oliver Queen.

That is a good point--with Queen being the charactature bleeding heart during that time, you would think he would like that a "little guy" would be standing up for himself, especially since that was his justification for getting Black Lightning into the team.

But Vibe was a pretty insufferable character, no matter one's political and social affiliation.

Indeed he could be, but that's what made the scene with Green Arrow show Ollie in such a bad light. There may be more to the context I'm forgetting (It was a LONG time ago), but the hypocrisy of "I stand up for the little guy, as long as they don't get uppity and talk back to me or disagree with me" irked.
