Greetings True Believers! Here's a funny scene from New Avengers #61. It features the NA Spideys. Enjoy!

Jessica and Peter are on a roof-top near Avengers Tower doing recon.

Yeah Peter, Thor-talk gets the ladies revving!

I love that, them peeking over the ledge.

And Peter brings it home.

Ha!

Bendis can be a good writer, up until the cast actually has to do something...

Yeah, he is good with character moments and stuff but when it comes to plotting? Hoo boy.

Plotting, action, villains...90% of what a comic book is, basically.

His plotting and action are bad when he is working on these big summer blockbuster events and high profile stuff like the Avengers which basically makes it's bulk on plotting and action. It's much, much better when he is working on street level stuff like Ultimate Spider-man, the Ult. Spidey vs Doc Ock fight had great action and somewhat good plotting IMO.

I don't know, i love his AVengers.

Though he does shine best in Alias and Daredevil type stuff.

I still want him to do a Cage Solo.

Well, a mainstream superhero comic, certainly. Something like, say, SANDMAN or Y doesn't always have any real villains or action to speak of, and Bendis' plotting weaknesses involve grandiose large-scale conflict, which is certainly a problem with a title like AVENGERS or a line-wide crossover, but doesn't ever come up in your LOVE & ROCKETS-type books, or even, say, a CATWOMAN run. Many comics are more small-scale, character-focused stories that play up the strengths and mitigate the weaknesses of a character/relationship-focused writer like Bendis.

See also: why Bendis is good at Ult-Spidey, and ALIAS will probably always be his best work.

I wouldn't go that far.

He's not even tha bad at plotting for that matter. It's when he tries to do too much.

To each their own. I think Bendis wants recognition for his concepts without doing any of the work.

Hence, his characters will tel us why we should be concerned yet we won't see that with regards to the plot.

How is he bad with plotting? I mean, aside from Secret Invasion having it's heroes spend half the event running around on the Savage Land, he doesn't do bad when it comes to stories.

House of M was just the heroes standing around, gathering their forces. That's it. The Tie-ins were a million times better.

And IMO the fact that Secret Invasion was supposed to be the culmination of years worth of plot buildup makes the whole running around the Savage land-thing a million times worse. I plain hated Secret Invasion though (it was worse than Final Crisis which is saying alot) so i'm biased.

Oh yeah--I forgot about House of M.

You kidding? Final Crisis was worst. SI could have been better, but wasn't that bad.
