Everybody loves Snake Eyes and it's pretty easy to see why just from the early days of the comic, when I think he just wears sunglasses and a ski mask. While it's hard to tell Breaker from Stalker, Snake Eyes sets himself apart with horrific scars, no dialogue, and a certain mystique that comes from never saying how badass you are when other people can do it for you.

Have to say, the cleaning weapons bit strikes me as more Snake-Eyes-dickery than anything else, as it implies he doesn't trust his comrades-in-arms to keep their own weapons clean, plus he's only checking them to ensure his OWN safety.

Snake-Eyes was a dick in the early years.

He was most often called off from just killing people, even people the Joes were supposed to be protecting.

It wasn't until his origin stories were told that he started mellowing out.
