Ms. Marvel #50

So, it's Ms. Marvel's 50th, final issue. Brian Reed has mentioned how he's always wanted to use Mystique, but until now she's been unavailable.

All in all, I'm disappointed. I was expecting this big Ms. Marvel/Mystique story. I mean, this is the first time they've fought since Uncanny X-Men #158. But instead the story was more about the crazy Captain Marvel skrull clone that Mystique was using.









So Carol fights the clone or whatever until its powers overload, killing it. It's later mentioned that Mystique woke up in an ambulance and jumped out.

I dunno; she also made her fist glow in an earlier scene when she was pretending to be Ms. Marvel.

Um... the "daughter" of one half of that pairing ripped out the memories of the other half, and still has some of them in her head last I checked. That might be a little awkward. (And definitely kinky.)

Other thoughts:
1. So Raven is just doing it for teh evulz, huh?
2. My guess is that Skrull-vell's already questionable sanity has been pushed to the breaking point, and he's just lashing out at everyone in his path.

No, Rogue lost all the memories of the people she had absorbed in Messiah Complex.

What would also make it awkward is that Mystique previously killed Carol's boyfriend.



And why is "daughter" in quotation marks?

Because Rogue isn't Raven's biological daughter, nor (as far as I know) was she ever formally adopted.

I'm pretty sure Carol's comic was written by Claremont at this point, which is basically all the explanation you need.

No she didn't.

In time, Destiny received precognitive visions that warned her about the Avenger known as Ms. Marvel costing Rogue her soul one day. She discussed it with Mystique, who then vowed to not allow this, even if it would kill her. In the room next door, Rogue overheard only the last part and decided to hunt down Ms. Marvel herself to protect her mother.
