sweettart1823: (Cissie & Cassie)
[personal profile] sweettart1823 posting in [community profile] scans_daily
Ah, because I seem to be a sucker for blond female archers I wanted to post something with Cissie because I love her. Who doesn't, right? So here we go.

Soo, Cassie needed someone to talk to after finding out Zeus was her dad so who else is she going to go to other then her bestest friend in the whole world? Well, Conner but that isn't the point...

Is it me or do the two of them look exactly alike? I was about to make a joke about them eating something later.. but I seriously think they're secretly twins or something. The only difference is Cassie has bangs and Cissie doesn't.

ANYWAY, I miss you Cissie, I want you to come back <3

And why wasn't THIS writer(s) on the Wonder Girl mini?

I mean, seriously. Did you read that mini? Arrowette agreed to suit back up at the drop of a hate - and Cassie totally wanted her non-powered, out of practice best friend to fight DEMIGODS with her.

It's kind of a logical continuation of this scene, though. I mean, look at them here, they've already flipped; all through YJ Cassie was insistent that Cissie suit back up, constantly pressuring and pestering her, and Cissie was adamant in her refusal. Here, Cissie is the first to suggest she join the fight, and actually attempts to do so, before Cassie stops her. They're not yelling furiously at each other so it's not that blatant, but it is still a total reversal of their established positions. Which by itself could just mean that they've come to respect each other's perspectives, but combined with the Wonder Girl mini, it's just as easily readable as Cissie coming around to Cassie's side and questioning her own prior conviction. (Which her attitude toward the Titans in that last exchange would tend to support, as well.)

I always really liked her part in OW@W, helping out as a combat nurse. I really liked the conflict between her philosophy and Cassie's, and the way her decision not to be a hero was held up as a sign of strength and maturity, and the way she could be an important cast member without following the same path as her friends. Putting her back in costume devalues her, I think, the same way I think putting Montoya in costume devalued her or putting Alfred "on" the Outsiders devalued him, the way that Leslie would be ridiculous if she woke up with powers and the way that Lois seems to work best when she's being a reporter and not her brief Bronze Age kung-fu crimefighter self; some characters just have different roles, and do more for the story and serve themselves better without spandex. Even if that means they stay out of the spotlight. :/

Cissie sticking around in some non-hero capacity, by taking up medicine or discovering a knack for deconstructing alien tech or grooming herself to be the next Oracle or any other form of support that wouldn't put enemy lives in her hands, would be really awesome and I'd shovel that up like a forklift. I wouldn't want to see her back as Arowette, though, and totally capitulating to Cassie's worldview, because it betrays everything I loved about her in YJ in the first place.

I think they should bring her back around right now just because once again Arrows are killing/getting ready to kill. While I generally agree with them they all need to do some soul searching and Cissie's point of view would add something to it.

Honestly, I think it's hard to say that putting her in costume devalues her, because she isn't really shown as being valued. This story was in a Secret Files issue, which are basically designed to fill pages and add stuff for people who care, but otherwise be totally inconsequential.

Oh yeah, Cassie, you're never pushy or pompous or controlling other people's lives, not even when you bodily drag your fully competent friend away from a fight in the same panel.

I agree, I need more Cissie in my life. IIRC, she'll be in the YJ cartoon we heard about, so yay.

Like she said, though, Arrowette's retired. She's trying to be a good friend there, by taking Cissie out of a situation in which she's inclined to heroics that she'll regret later.

Not that your point doesn't still stand, this was Johns!Cassie and she was already well past behaving far more poorly than any of Diana's patrons ever have. (Sad fucking day when Kon is wiser and more understanding of Cassie's loved ones than Cassie herself, even *if* Cassie's the wronged party).

She doesn't, IIRC, respond to or even appear to notice Cissie's pointed bitterness in that last panel there, either.

LOL, my actual point was that Cassie's apparently so self absorbed? unobservant? narcissistic? that she didn't recognize the irony of her own thoughts and her simultaneous actions, which is SO not the WG I know and love. Guess that didn't come across right in my last post.

Oh, no, I was agreeing with you. She's completely oblivious. But I don't think her lifting Cissie out of the fight is actually an example of that, despite the pushiness and pompousness that suffuse everything else about her here.

That could just be a reflection of my issues with Cissie's whole fighting/not-fighting thing, though, see above. :/

Did Nauck do these pencils? The faces look a bit like his, but the rest doesn't seem to as much.

Other than that, yay for well-written Cassie! Seems like it's a rarity these days...

Arrowete had an appearance outside the cameo from Teen Titans?

The scene with Hyena reminded my of the werewolf saga in Young Justice. Remember the part where Cass dumps hair removal on them and it made the werwolves naked. Never really understodd why they dressed up as the boys, since the girls manage to spot them as fakes right away. I guess it was just dumb teenagers doing dumb teenager things.

This icon is just for you ;-)

There's one panel there where Cassie's body looks really bendy-weird.

Ooooh! You know I'm going to ask you for more stuff! <3 Do you have any of Cassie/Tim's brief romance too?? I don't think I've ever seen any of it...

This was the closest icon I have to a gopher...

We need more Cissie King-Jones up in this here Scans Daily.

Cissie sort of reminds me of Marvel's Cecilia Reyes, a character who didn't want to be a superhero but kinda got dragged into it (and was good at it). I wish they would explore and develop these characters more.

97% of Cissie's appearances are in Young Justice, which is banned. Very unfortunately.

Young Justice was written by Peter David, and all of his stuff is banned from S_D, at his request.
