Lian RIP - Superboy #82, Harper Family Reunion

OK, both in the requests thread and the Rise of Arsenal postings I'm seeing calls for Lian Harper Memorial Posts. So here's one of my favorites from Superboy #82 (2001), "Power Lunch," in which Roy and Lian meet their newfound cloned uncle Jim Harper, a.k.a. Guardian, for coffee and conversation.







In between each of these pages are scenes of Superboy fighting somebody called Negative G. Not to worry, though, Kon has it all under control.





That's Neg-G floating in the window behind them. The joke I guess being that Kon is fighting the good fight all around them and they don't notice?







5 pages plus preview panel of a 22 page story. I remember seeing this on s_d before, but a quick tiptoe through the tags makes me believe it's gone gone gone.

ETA: A request for those who've been following Guardian in the "World Without Superman" plotline. It's mentioned in Adventure Comics 8 that Guardian has interacted with Tellus of the Legion Espionage Squad, who calls him "Friend Harper." Can anyone point me in the direction of the issue/s where this occurred?

Is this still cannon? I remember in issue where Roy lost his arm, it had Ollie swearing revenge via reflection of Guardian's helmet. They pulled the same story with one of the officers in the Science Police, but I wonder is this realtionship is still canon.

Crap. This just reminded me that Billie Harper (aka former Gotham cop, current Metropolis science cop and Mon-El's lover) is also a great-niece of Jim Harper (original) and transfered to Metro to meet the Clone version - who in the meantime has a "daughter" about Lian's age who is actually the only surviving clone of himself (clone of a clone) who he took away and is raising (and who knows nothing of her origins). Also Guardian was in Cry for Justice IIRC and has also been one of Robinson's pet characters (who he put in the JLA and has been romancing Dr. Light) and we haven't gotten a reaction from him yet. And it also means that Lian never did get to meet any of her other "Harper" cousins. Crap again. The heck with you, DC.

that's a really cute superhero diner/restaurant they're eating in, what with the little green lantern at the table and the batman mug that's Roy's got. I'm trying to decide if Lian brought a superhero coloring book with her, or that's the restaurant's children's menu. :)

When I saw them sitting at the diner table, I got all excited thinking this is the ish where Lian's sitting on Dick's lap and she tells everyone that "Owacle" runs the JLA.

But this was still great! Awww.

The Newsboy Legion, of whom Guardian was the legal guardian, preserved his brain and grew up to be mad scientists genetic researchers. They pretty much founded Project Cadmus to bring Guardian back.

It was in the Adventure Comics (New Krypton part 4) special that starred Guardian.
