Fifty-Fifty

Like many people, I think Batman: The Animated Series is the definitive take on the Batman mythos. The show's version of Two-Face in particular is without a doubt the best adaptation of the character as well. This story 'Fifty-Fifty' is a great one in my opinion and is worth reading for the scene involving Two-Face and a phone booth alone.

Today is exactly 100 years after the arrival in this plane of reality of one Jacob Kurzberg, whose astonishing imagination focussed into the realm of comic books would become better known as the output of the one, the only, Jack Kirby. And as a community devoted to the medium, it behooves us to celebrate the event.

Stan Sakai's OTHER rabbit

Before I continue my Usagi Yojimbo posts, I want to show you something very interesting: Stan Sakai's "The Adventures of Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy".

Set in the very same world and age of Usagi Yojimbo, "Nilson and Hermy" happens in Northern Europe. It follows the exploits of Nilson, a rabbit swordsmith's apprentice who stumbles on slow-witted Hermy, the guinea pig. Together the unlikely pair wanders offering their services to anyone who is foolish enough to hire them.

Tomorrow, as I promised, a short self-contained Usagi Yojimbo story, in which we learn about... seaweed farming?!
