It was a game like a dream, between Doctor Doom and his Prime Mover.
Shang-Chi and friends'd worked out that they were in the game, while stumbling through a dream-like haze.
Shang-Chi and his ally, Clive Reston of MI-6, traveled to Latveria to confront Doom.
They were confronted by Shaka Kharn, an old enemy. Kharn slew Reston, and was in turn slain (again?) by Shang-Chi-
- who'd only slain him for the first time, because he was a robot. As was Reston.
Confused, the drug Doom'd dosed him with still in him, Shang-Chi fought his way into the nearby castle - through another robot (of Shockwave, the ex-MI-6 man who augmented his martial arts skills with electricity-generating body armor), and maybe just men who were as obedient as.
Shang-Chi kicked a door at the top of a flight of stairs down.
" I have been waiting for you, son of Fu Manchu.. "
( Another old enemy faced him. )

"I used to really want to be a superhero when I was a kid. My parents had a lot of art supplies around the house, and one day I found some silver poster board. I fashioned some 'bullet-proof' wristbands out of the poster board, and then told my younger brother to shoot at me with his plastic pellet gun, so I could practice my Wonder Woman skills. Needless to say, it didn’t go as well as I had pictured it going in my head. I did manage to deflect about 15%-20% of the pellets, but most of them ended up ricocheting off my head and neck. Ow. I am sooo lucky to have my eyesight. Granted, it was not a very powerful pellet gun, but…" -- Amanda Conner

Infinite Crisis was the DC event just before I properly got into reading comics regularly (that was for 52). My local library had all of the tie in trades so I was able to get a flavour of the event.
So I approached Tales from the Dark Multiverse - Infinite Crisis with a lot of curiosity
As with all What If stories, it needs a bit of an understanding of What Was before you get into What Could Have Been
( The original... )
( The Dark Multiverse version )
Like all what ifs, and Dark Multiverse especially, it squanders the initial premise to give us "and everything was terrible" but this was a good moment
