Yu-Gi-Oh!...without cards!?!

Sometimes, certain entries or aspects in a series end up becoming so popular and beloved they end up either overtaking or becoming the main focus of that series. Metal Gear Solid ended up surpassing Metal Gear, Megami Tensei became Shin Megami Tensei (and then that series got largely taken over by Persona), Mario Bros. hit their stride with Super Mario, Dragon Ball gave way to Dragon Ball Z, the list goes on.

Before the anime, before 4Kids, before even the card game thatself, Yu-Gi-Oh! was a Tales from the Crypt-esque dark fantasy/horror anthology where the spirit of an ancient pharaoh routinely possessed the hapless young Yugi Moto to dish out ironic, (mostly) non-card game based punishments to bullies and crooks that torment the poor boy and his circle of friends. Sure, Duel Monsters was a thing, but that was simply one of many games the titular king of games played and didn’t become the main focus until Volume 7 or so. Since the most popular anime adaptation takes place after everyone kind of already went through their development, some characters might be a bit... different then what you’d expect.

It was the second of the two part story that'd begin in #51.

In the neighborhood of Gotham known as " the Hill ", Tommy Maxx - fashion designer and supplier of criminals Thomas Misell, turned supervillain with the enlisted aid of Killer Croc - was making his presence felt.

The Red Hood hadn't run into him, yet - but had run into the local vigilante Strike.

The morning after that, Jason Todd was reconnecting with his old friend Dana, at the diner she owned.

Dana's anchorwoman sister Denise dropped in, as did the two's father Benny.

Jason watched his friend's dad head to the back (" need to put [some oxtails] in the oven "), leaning on his cane.

( He asked Dana a question. )

Superman could punch a Klansman or Nazi, but what could he do about a terrified suburban mom?
