Super DC Giant S-24
Jun. 13th, 2021 10:28 amThe best part of silver age for me was the fact that Supergirl stories regularly used reader submitted costumes. This issue features costumes that never made it to the actual comics, but which I honestly consider the best Supergirl costumes - again, it's my subjective opinion. Some of those costumes were reflected decades later in the comics, but they were never adapted 1:1.

Archie's 80th anniversary: Choose
Jun. 13th, 2021 10:55 am
Beginning in 2015, Archie Comics launched the New Riverdale era, rebooting some of its titles as either ongoings or minis, with writing and art by some of the biggest names in comics. Arguably the most successful of these was Mark Waid's run on the rebooted Archie (#1-32, 2015-2018). Waid told a continuous, issue-by-issue story which kept the main cast's characterization pretty much the same but began the continuity afresh, with certain characters meeting for the first time or having somewhat different backstories. More significantly, whether a given scene consisted of outrageous slapstick, poignant relationship drama, "teen politics" comedy of manners, or a tense hostage incident, Waid consistently applied his gift for engaging, intelligent and witty dialogue.
In this post, we see the resolution, for now, of a long-standing relationship tangle.

It started last month on the Red Hood facing the Ventriloquist and Mister Scarface the giant mech.
After disabling the puppet by knocking out the puppeteer, the Hood had banter with one of the Peacekeepers of Gotham's Magistrate.
The tolerated mask-hunter and the sanctioned soldier were interrupted by the ground going away underneath them.
They escaped the effects, the collapsing streets and buildings and the rattling shockwaves, and took in the aftermath.
( It was symbolic. )

He will always have this sense of self of who he is as Batman, and yeah, Selina is the exact opposite when she's Catwoman. She's had one of these lives where who she was at 10 is not who she is when she was 20, she's not who she is at 30 who she was at 20, she's not who she is at 40 who she was at 30...and people live both of those lives. There are people who are like 'I'm the same who I was at 16!' and there are some that just transform every year. -- Tom King
