Here are two other variant covers. The only one that I don't think has been posted yet is the one with Ms Marvel. Anyway....

There's just something about this cover that I can't put my finger on. Perhaps it's because Emma's expression makes her look drunk as hell?

Emma does indeed look wasted. If she was drunk more often, it might make Uncanny X-Men more readable.

Natasha looks good though, if posed slightly awkwardly. Nice to see her being linked more firmly with the Captain America title as well. I do like the fact that the two main characters of that book are a former Soviet spy and a former Soviet assassin.

They both look kind of drunk actually - drunk and trying to pretend they aren't.

Yeah. The X-Books (aside from the Art!Fail trip to africa book) have been the best things at Marvel.

The only other books I like by them are Invincible Iron man (and that's only mainly to Pepper)

Thor (just damn good writing)
Hecules/Prince of Power (good fun)

The Avengers titles have been hit and miss but hopfully this reboot will fix that (I'm liking secret avengers, waiting for Jewel's official reaapearance, avengers academy is an interesting concept, CANT WAIT for Young Avengers.

Spider-man is like an abusive boyfriend (everytime you want to leave he does something you think could make up for the abuse only to slam you in the face with a hot iron) and until they fix the MJ situation I refuse to spend my money on it.

Incredible Hulk's world war hulks makes me wanna hurl (up until red hulk and red she hulk it was okay, loved Banner and Skaar's father son bonding) but the moment The reds showed up crap ina can! (Hopfully it gets back on track once that tripe is done.)

X-Men has been the only thing (aside from Young Avengers, and Runaways) that Marvel has given me that has not only been good, but also kept my attention)

You see, I think the X-men books have been pretty consistently crappy ever since the end of New X-men. There's been NOTHING OF INTEREST GOING ON. Just a bunch of lame villains and a bunch of lame posturing.

Which is odd, since I love a lot of the characters. But the entire damn family feels like Stabby Force too often.

The Avengers books have been (mostly) good, but with the occasional real stinker, and it shows they've been the centerpiece of the MU for a while. The new stuff seems good overall as well.

Fraction's Iron-Man is... not very good. Too drawn out, artfail, and generally not very interesting. The Knauf's run was WAY better.

I've never really cared about the Hulk.

Hercules/Prince of Power is awesome, and the Thor stuff is OK.

Spider-man is... More fail than win. But there's some good stuff in there if you can stand to ignore the bad stuff. (Not blaming those who can't though, because there's bucketfuls of FAIL in there too)

And Cosmic Marvel has been balls-to-the-wall AWESOME, and you should bow down before it's awesometasticness!

Captain America.

The best book on the market ever since Brubaker took over. And this is coming from a non-American, who never thought Captain America would be even remotely interesting.

Great cast, great writing, lovely art. What more could you want?

Honestly, I love the X-Men. They were the characters who first got me interested in Marvel comics. But I just hate the way they're written at the moment, and I hate the fact that the vast majority of action, in all of the different books, is dominated by the same five or six characters

Maybe Emma bothers you for the same reason as me, the artist drew her thighs foreshortened as if she's sitting down, but there's no other indication she is. Take a look, they join to the front of her pelvis.

Perkins draws Captain America again!

Does this mean Natasha will be appearing in the book more? She hasn't been in the last few issues, where she once had a strong supporting role. Not that I think Marvel is marginalizing her the way is usually the case when a supporting character stops appearing, but if Black Widow's not in the book so much, perhaps Rikki should be on the cover?

Natasha's got her own ongoing and a slot in Secret Avengers right now. I think this might be the least marginalized she's ever been.

Like I said, I don't think she's being marginalized at all, but she definitely hasn't been appearing in Captain America as much. And this is a Captain America cover. So, I'm curious if this means they're going to bring her back to that book.

And I'd say that she might have been less marginalized in the early seventies, when she was the first superheroine to get a solo feature at Marvel, I think.

Both she and James appear in each other's book. It's just that if the situation doesn't require a team-up they work separately. I like it. But it seems to have historically been the framework for a new writer on either book to break them up. (past examples of Green Arrow/Black Canary and Nightwing/Oracle come to mind.)

Yeah, I like it, too. They both get to exist as independent characters outside of the relationship. But there isn't really a precedent for two characters to be in a relationship while both have ongoing solo titles. I'm not sure it's ever happened before. I half-expected editorial to break them up so it would be easier to have Natasha solo stories. (Not that I think she can't have solo adventures while also having a boyfriend, but I think there's a perception, there.) But it looks like based on interviews they're keeping them together through the year, at least, which is two different creative teams on Black Widow.

Again, I'm more just speculating that Natasha might appear later on in the current arc, despite being absent from "Two Americas" and off on Avengers business in 606, because she's being featured on the cover here.

Having read too many comics (and seen too many soap operas), the huge red flag will be when and if Natasha or James gets a recurring opposite gender viable romantic interest inserted into the book's story arc. Otherwise, it should be fairly easy to write them as having a relationship and yet working separately. Sort of like real life.

Well, Swierczynski mentions a new POV character with a bit of a crush on Natasha... I imagine there's some feeling that writers can't insert a new love interest of their choosing, and that hampers the creative process. Hence, new creative team = relationship overhaul. But realistically, you're operating in a shared universe anyway.

It's like the artist decided he needed to include an article from every one of her costumes, and then add some fug for good measure.

Dear, God, Emma. Good thing you're wearing a cape, since those belts seem to be the only thing covering half your ass.
