Here are two other variant covers. The only one that I don't think has been posted yet is the one with Ms Marvel. Anyway....

There's just something about this cover that I can't put my finger on. Perhaps it's because Emma's expression makes her look drunk as hell?

Date: 2010-06-26 12:14 am (UTC)The only other books I like by them are Invincible Iron man (and that's only mainly to Pepper)
Thor (just damn good writing)
Hecules/Prince of Power (good fun)
The Avengers titles have been hit and miss but hopfully this reboot will fix that (I'm liking secret avengers, waiting for Jewel's official reaapearance, avengers academy is an interesting concept, CANT WAIT for Young Avengers.
Spider-man is like an abusive boyfriend (everytime you want to leave he does something you think could make up for the abuse only to slam you in the face with a hot iron) and until they fix the MJ situation I refuse to spend my money on it.
Incredible Hulk's world war hulks makes me wanna hurl (up until red hulk and red she hulk it was okay, loved Banner and Skaar's father son bonding) but the moment The reds showed up crap ina can! (Hopfully it gets back on track once that tripe is done.)
X-Men has been the only thing (aside from Young Avengers, and Runaways) that Marvel has given me that has not only been good, but also kept my attention)

Date: 2010-06-26 12:20 am (UTC)Which is odd, since I love a lot of the characters. But the entire damn family feels like Stabby Force too often.
The Avengers books have been (mostly) good, but with the occasional real stinker, and it shows they've been the centerpiece of the MU for a while. The new stuff seems good overall as well.
Fraction's Iron-Man is... not very good. Too drawn out, artfail, and generally not very interesting. The Knauf's run was WAY better.
I've never really cared about the Hulk.
Hercules/Prince of Power is awesome, and the Thor stuff is OK.
Spider-man is... More fail than win. But there's some good stuff in there if you can stand to ignore the bad stuff. (Not blaming those who can't though, because there's bucketfuls of FAIL in there too)
And Cosmic Marvel has been balls-to-the-wall AWESOME, and you should bow down before it's awesometasticness!

Date: 2010-06-26 03:12 pm (UTC)The best book on the market ever since Brubaker took over. And this is coming from a non-American, who never thought Captain America would be even remotely interesting.
Great cast, great writing, lovely art. What more could you want?
Honestly, I love the X-Men. They were the characters who first got me interested in Marvel comics. But I just hate the way they're written at the moment, and I hate the fact that the vast majority of action, in all of the different books, is dominated by the same five or six characters

Date: 2010-06-25 09:59 pm (UTC)Does this mean Natasha will be appearing in the book more? She hasn't been in the last few issues, where she once had a strong supporting role. Not that I think Marvel is marginalizing her the way is usually the case when a supporting character stops appearing, but if Black Widow's not in the book so much, perhaps Rikki should be on the cover?

Date: 2010-06-25 10:14 pm (UTC)And I'd say that she might have been less marginalized in the early seventies, when she was the first superheroine to get a solo feature at Marvel, I think.

Date: 2010-06-26 08:31 pm (UTC)Again, I'm more just speculating that Natasha might appear later on in the current arc, despite being absent from "Two Americas" and off on Avengers business in 606, because she's being featured on the cover here.
