Newsarama has the Marvel press release for their next major event to touch every where in the Marvel Universe. No, not like a bad monkey, but its influence will be felt everywhere.
And spoilers behind the cut.

"Quesada says that Marvel is at their best when they take stock of the world around us, citing Civil War as an example of a story that examined the world around us.
What, no Wolverine in the picture? How is that possible?
someone pinch me.
whoops, guess who survived Fantastic Four story arc "3"?

Date: 2010-12-21 10:17 pm (UTC)I can only hope that it's fast-moving, big-ideas-on-every-page Casanova-style Fraction. His Iron Man is a little too glacially-paced for me.

Date: 2010-12-21 10:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, because all that played out JUST like the real world would, including never being mentioned less than a couple of years after it was all miraculously undone by magical law-making pixies... or something.
Hm?
Date: 2010-12-21 11:28 pm (UTC)I mean, story lines don't revolve around it any more, and most characters have moved on since then, but everyone still remembers it, and it hasn't been retconned.

Date: 2010-12-21 11:04 pm (UTC)DRACULA: Hol - er, UNholy crap! I'm actually in this shot, and Spider-Man ISN'T? I...I might be crying a little inside...do I smell costume redesign? Please tell me I smell costume redesign...
CYCLOPS: (Will I never show off my moonwalk skills without a superpowered disaster interrupting?)
STORM: Oh hooray. Yet another story which does NOTHING new to my development as a character. Next week: why don't I cut my hair again, uh?
THING: Looks like I forgot to wear a watch today. Mebbe because I always KNOW what time it is. *
STEVE: Thank the lord Tony passed out. You can never be too grateful for a human shield covered in indestructible armour, except when he's also a cowardly drunk.
THOR: Wait, why do BOTH of my hands feel as if I'm holding a hammer?
CAP: Like all of life's problems, this one can be solved by waving my pistol in the air.
BLACK PANTHER: Yeah yeah, fraidycats, whatever. I'm getting me a Latte...What? Sure I miss my country, but the government pooh-poohed my ideas to install a Starbucks within every 5 metre square radius. Love you too, NY...I love you too.
*PISSTAKER'S NOTE: I find it very hard to make fun of Ben Grimm. Sort of the same way I would for the original Mister T or Winston Churchill. They're all just too damn dignified.

Date: 2010-12-21 11:17 pm (UTC)No.
That is a false statement.
I read comics to have fun and read good stories, not read poorly thought-out strawman debates about "real world issues".

Date: 2010-12-22 12:46 am (UTC)Except Marvel's now in full promotional gear, including press releases about how topical this whole thing is and how it will affect the whole Marvel Universe and blah blah blah and I still don't see anywhere that indicates that this crossover has anything to do with the Ultimate universe OR that the Spidey ad was meant to be Ultimate Spidey instead of 616 Spidey.
