scans_dailySo now everything but the Thunderbolts tie-in's over for Hulk's Scorched Earth, leaving us with the fallout of the Intelligentsia's machinations; Doom's brain damage, a spider legged MODOK, and the Red Hulk.
The last of whom's been establishing his presence in the larger MU, riding along with the Avengers and unwillingly killing Araña's dad. He even seems to be getting Hulk to himself for the next few, while Bruce rages against the gods in Incredible Hulks..
..so now's the perfect time to give him his own enemies, foes outside himself.
Their designs look a bit generic, but it works when you consider the larger universal level Rulk's generally been operating from.
I mean, top-right guy? Uatu's fault, more or less.
See, Hulk 28-29 ran a backup featuring the fallout of Rulk punching our Watcher, who seemed to've gone maverick after the fact; had he been tainted?
No, as investigating Watcher Uravo discovers; he'd merely vanished for a seemingly unrelated reason, to watch a terrible birth whose conception Uravo exposits on:
How lethal was the Omegex, you ask? Necessitating-Watcher-intervention, that's how lethal.
Indeed, one wonders about Uatu's real motives in coming here to observe; for when the Omegex is birthed, what does it register?
That's right, a destroyer of worlds is now fixated on Rulk's scent, and Uatu is okay with that!
(one hopes that it doesn't extend to all other gamma mutates, or even human beings.)
However, that's not to say we've forgotten General Ross.. check Hulk's Point One solicit:

Fortean I'm a little less enthusiastic about; he has a great hook (a wrongfully vengeful former subordinate), and Parker's promising to play it as hunter vs hunter, but it's all in the execution.
Which with Parker isn't so much of a worry, but still.. at least his design looks better from the front:
It's somewhere between Hulkbuster and something you'd fight in Destroy All Humans!, so that's good.. hope his faceplate's reinforced, though.
Lower-left seems to be derived from the prosthetic zombie plague Rulk and Tony stopped for Steve in 26:
Which, in true plague nature, wasn't entirely eradicated after the fact:
Whether or not she's the villain in question or just a vector for her origin is up in the air.
At any rate, that one's definitely got a very viral plan in the making:

The world stage bursts open to make room for a powerful mastermind who wants to remake society in her own vision--after she kills the Red Hulk! Plus: a mysterious group has plans for their newly adopted champion--Rick Jones, the A-Bomb!
(..what DO those blue folks want? Hopefully it's not Mojo-related.)
And as for the angry midget in the upper left?
Hulk 32 doesn't seem to be about him, and nothing seems to've telegraphed him, so.. wait till 33 for him to gnaw on Rulk's forearm?
Should be fun seeing if these guys have any sticking power.. if nothing else, they'll be perfect obscure character fodder in the long run.
