I'll be honest. My interest in this title has been waning lately ever since the fallout between Hughie and Butcher. But based on this issue's involvement with Vought American, I think Garth Ennis is about to bring things to a head. Which, if you ask me, has been a long time in coming.

What you need to know is that Vought American is pretty much tired with the Seven's antics, and the newest member, Ms. Bradley, wonders what would happen if Vought American just stood out of harm's way and let the Seven and the Boys have a go at each other. The results follow.

Ms. Bradley's final words are intriguing. How exactly will she get the percentage up to 100% wherein both sides are wiped out? Still, it's pretty telling that even in a simulation, the Boys get their asses handed to them by the Seven. I see a Hitman type ending in the works for the Boys, if I know my Garth Ennis. And I think I do.

See, I saw that initial first page, and quickly flipped to Wiki to find out if we know anything else about Black Noir. Only that he never speaks except to make crude Frank Miller references during sexual abuse, and that he cannot fly a plane.

Batman analogue + world in which superheroes are by-and-large sociopathic hedonists with barely and restraints = someone to be very, very afraid of.

I personally been looking forward to Butcher getting his hands on The Homelander. That and personally been pulling for Hughie and Annie. Admittedly this is a book I like and still waiting on The Boys to take on Watchmen expies.

The main thing that it's important to remember about this projection is that there seems to be no knowledge on Vought-American's part that Hughie and Annie have a relationship, or that Maeve has worked with the Boys before. I also wonder if they know what happened to the Nazi guy that they killed previously, who was supposed to be in the Homelander's league.

There will be a bloodbath between the two group at some point. And since it's Ennis and capes, there will be genital damage.

I enjoyed Highland Laddie. I’m kind of surprised that Ennis would be praising not-toughness for a change (as well as the social rationale: if you lived a happy life with a nice family, you can’t, and shouldn’t, be a tough guy). But I’m afraid some sort of “well, you’ll gotta tough up anyway to fix things” moral is coming up at the end.

Also Hughie is really being a dick in continuing to not tell about his job to Annie. I mean, she was completely honest with him, and she was under pretty much the same risks regarding secrecy.

Butcher is clearly becoming obsessed in a bad way. I like these psychological aftershocks of indulging in violence.

Homelander’s being humanized (mirror scene). Knowing Ennis, that means he’ll probably suffer some horrible death soon.
