ComicBookResources has the preview, as we find out the latest activities of Limbo.

Not comic book limbo where characters spend time until stories require them to come back, but the weird place between worlds.

Confusing, isn't it.

I can't wait to see what kidLoki has planned for this caper.

oh i am aware, its just that like i said, linking the names to anime/Manga/Japanses slang, throws me, because I am only moderately knowledgeable at those...

really? you didn't like Mal and Inara?

Yeah, Mal was smug... but that was only on the surface... i wanted more often to slap Jayne... but damn if at the point i wanted to reach through my tv he did something hilarious thus soothing me.... (I'll be in my bunk :)

Well, I didn't like Mal. I loved Inara. I thought their relationship came across as... I really didn't like the way Mal interacted with her. Though that's mostly because Mutant Ennemy did terrible world building with the Companions "so the Companions are sex workers but they're actually totally respected and valued by this society, what a twist! Except from now on every single plots dealing with them will show that they are actually totally disrespected as a profession; and that Mal is right when he (what a cad!) systematically diss Inara as a whore. He's the only one to really respect her, really!"
>_>;

I loved Jayne! Though, lol, he was often an idiot so I'd understand wanting to slap him for that.

hmm i didn't see it as that. the only other Companions we have seen were at the Heart of Gold (really on the nose there) and they were not really companions. When ever Inara was mistreated it was rare (if i recall it was only ever once). If anything Inara was more right than Mal was. The Companions retained the control of not only WHO they... umm companioned with, but also when. Yes their time was purchased, but they always retained the right to refuse. they also governed themselves. If any thing, Mal came out of those situations looking like a... not jerk, but a boob.

and i never saw Mal's dissing of her as actual dissrespect, i honestly think he couldn't understant iz all (oh god im talking like Kaylee)...

I meant things like the way Inara's clients treat her; like the jerk who hired her to the ball and ended up duelling Mal - who obviously thought paying Inara entitled him to treating her like a piece of furniture - or the guy who hired her to take his son's virginity; who wasn't very...

The Companions obviously are in control of what they do and with whom, etc.; but that's not really what I meant.

And Mal totally came across as a jerk; but that the narrative sold his behaviour as their relationship being romantic despite said jerk-hood is what troubles me.

Yeah the guy who hires her for his son was a jerk, but inara discribed him as not understanding what a Companion was. That other jerk... well he was a jerk to begin with.

there was also the governor who was respectful. Inara also apparently has several regular clients, most of who i think are respectful of her (other wise i wouldn't see her continuing with them)

I don't agree that mal came off enitirely as a Jerk, he came off as a jerk because he honestly could not understand... to him sex was one of two things, either something you share with some one you care about, or a way to keep from being lonely... either way, for him it required an emotional connection. Even the companion he slept with in "Heart of Gold" you could tell he had definite feelings for. In fact i don't know that Mal ever slept with anyone he DIDN'T have an emotional attachment to.

I don't think Mal understood that to Companion this was STILL TRUE. all companions find something in thier partners they can love. It does not always involve sex. But if it dose there is still an emotional bond there... Mal does not understand how that can be true.

But that does not mean Mal does not care for her. you can tell he does, but he is torn by his love for her and his inability to understand her profession. So he reacts like some one who does not understand usually does, with childish name calling. (ugh this last part came out kind of weak... but its the end of the day and i think my mind gave up...)
