Greetings, Chew believers!

There's a big Awooga from me this week as Chew v.4 came out in TPB (and with it, the Omnivore edition v.2, collecting #10 to #20.)

I've not read any of Chew 16-20, though I have read 27.

I've already posted the scene where Tony and Amelia Mintz met properly as well as their first date proper.

Tony and Amelia moved in together. But Amelia isn't Tony's first girlfriend...

For whatever reason, Tony keeps Mindy's toe in his freezer. When Amelia finds out, she freaks out, but doesn't exactly cycle 8 miles in the other direction. I really want to find out if she has the same reaction when she finds out about Tony and Olive (And if you've already read it, do me a favour and don't spoil it.)

Oh ho ho that one crazy wimmin in a setting in which almost everyone is crazy. I'm not very familiar with Chew apart from the previews posted here, but it does seem as if the entire world, regardless of gender, is at least a little mad. Does a single negative female character make an entire work misogynism?

And I wonder, does this scene occur BEFORE Tony knows he's a Cibopath? Because if not, this scene says volumes about having a debilitating physical condition misunderstood, especially by the sufferer's loved ones...

Based on the fact that they're in a fancy restaurant, I'll guess that this is before Tony's powers manifest.

I can't imagine that a place like that would be happy to serve up a plate of beetroot.

So she's just incredibly nuts, and slightly lucky at pre-empting a plot development.

...And, oh GOD, I just realized why Tony kept the toe. It's not a sympathetic memento - or at least, not JUST that. He knows she might come after his loved ones again. He needs a way to get into her head and understand exactly how she thinks, when or if that happens.

Jeez.

I gotta admit, Min is the part of Chew that I have yet to understand what the point might be in the overall arc. But there must be one... somehow.

Honestly, if you hadn't said it was her toe, I wouldn't have known what it was. In the art, the bandage is on the side of her big toe, which is obviously still there. There aren't any toes in the place that's bandaged..
