Flies being associated with the Rot does make sense. Flies are animals, but they do depend on rot and decay throughout their lives. Flies lay their eggs in decaying meat to provide their maggots with food. And their habit of living in that sort of filth does make them notorious carriers of disease.

i think the same thing can work for mosquitoes who are both parasetic and known to carry diseases.
