So the metagene came from daemonites? As for the Thirteen..hmm it was brought up in a recent issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws..
Kryptonians Thanagarians Tamaranians Daemonites Martians Humans (Because Earth is always part of these things) Rannians (I assume that's what the people of Rann are called and let's not forget their little war with Thanagar) Kherubim (enemies of Daemonites whove yet to even show up..still waiting for Spartan to make his new 52 debut)
That's 8 aliens races. Which am I missing? I'm just guessing and shooting in the dark here about this whole Thirteen thing.
It sucks that my favorite superhero, Superman, still hasn't found his place in the New 52 yet, along with a good writer (so far) for his self-titled book. Oh well, there's always Smallville and Action Comcis.
Plus they keep making him too young and sometimes borderline emo. Superman doesn't spend his time mourning and moping that he's the last of his species, and that no one understands him; he looks forward to a better tomorrow and doesn't cry about the past. There should be some tragedy in the fact that Superman is the last of his species, but it shouldn't be so tragic that it becomes what defines who he is and why he does what he does. Superman is Superman not because he is the last of his species, but because he just wants to help people out and believes that everyone can be saved or change who they are. Also, Superman isn't supposed to be some young guy you relate to, Superman is the adult that you want to grow up to be. You don't root for Superman because he's imperfect, you root for him because he is perfect and wants to help others become perfect like him. Finally, Superman and Wonder Woman (though interesting) is a lame idea in my opinion. I feel like Alan Moore said it best in "For The Man Who Has Everything": "Too predictable."
Action Comics shows a Superman who may call himself "Superman," but hasn't exactly grown into and become Superman yet; mostly because of his cockiness. Smallville shows a Superman who is in a loving relationship with Lois Lane, the most important woman in his life, and is proof that splitting up Lois and Clark was a stupid idea; as it shows that you can have Superman married, and still have the comic(s) be successful. I also find it kind of funny that I like Smallville, since I never realy liked or care for the T.V. show that it is based on.
Regardless, I've always thought the Smallville franchise always lacked something very important; the sense of the fantastic, something that should go hand in hand with Superman.
Instead we get something very dull.
At the very least here we see potential for character GROWTH, something that simply doesn't happen in DC/Marvel comics. We are bullet pointed Superman's personality and thats it. Maybe here will see him become more like the Superman you love. Which makes this a little interesting.
Well, they really haven't "added" them quite yet. I mean, we have a few encounters with Helspont, but that's about it.
I think the idea of this conqueroring race of shapeshifters that Superman can't see through leaded by a being with a mysterious past who wants Superman to join him as a rightful part, if done right, can be a REALLY cool addition to Superman's enemies. If done right, Helspont could be to Superman what Ra's al Ghul was/is to Batman.
Admittedly I haven't read all the dialogue here, but is there some justification as to why Kori's wearing dental floss? Or is that meant to be her costume?
All right, I just checked out the issue and, while she's only on two pages, they indicate on her FIRST page that she's relaxing on "her" beach off the Florida Keys, the one where her ship's wreck is, without Jason or Roy.
Of course, knowing what we do about Kory, that begs the question of why she'd bother with the bikini at all, if there's nobody around, but I guess that can be answered THIS way:
Amazing how minimal the clothing has to be to bypass that. XD Would've made more sense if she was 'without' to begin with and then threw on a sun dress or something. XP
I thought Hawkman was back to being just a magic dude with wings. Guess I was wrong. And oh J'onn, you don't get no respect. But don't worry, you're still my favorite.
Frankly, I have no fucking idea what they're doing with Hawkman right now. All I know is that apparently recently they featured an assassin character who is in a relationship with his motorcycle that has an AI intelligence, which is awesome.
That seems possible--I believe #14 of Red Hood has them encountering Superman, something to do with what happens in the Annual, and they specifically mention his interaction with Starfire.
