The boy grows up under Father's guidance. Alongside this Earth's other superheroes, he re-makes society.



A multiple reality-spanning cataclysm strikes his world:



He's the sole survivor, found and pulled into the regular Marvel universe by AIM scientists. They keep him imprisoned, deprived of sunlight to keep him powerless, until the Avengers find and rescue him.

He joins the team, and now in the present day, he and a few other Avengers are in the Savage Land investigating some biological weirdness: A giant cocoon's about the give birth to a new kind of life.

1st, 3rd and 4th letters of that alien language are the same, so I'm guessing it's probably meant to be an alien version of 'daddy'.

Likely just a font that changes Latin letters to glyphs, literally spelling d-a-d-d-y (unless it’s "Bobby", "sassy", or "nanny" or "momma"…)

Lately Marvel has been quite bad for lovers of languages and writing systems; rather than making up cool stuff, very often they just use English thinly disguised. (Which is a shame, with the amount of nerds in their audience…)

I'm just pleased that this isn't the genocidal Hyperion that Blue Marvel took out. Because if it had been him I would have written off the entire book as "really bad writing."

Apparently, this is a whole other parallel universe Hyperion whom we've never seen before. I see that his origin ties in with the stuff going on in New Avengers.

The new kind of life looks an awful lot like the Zebra People that've been in the Savage Land since like forever. Though those were just humans who painted stripes on themselves.

I remember them. The white members of the tribe had black stripes and the black members of the tribe had white stripes. And this was years before Marty the Zebra (from Madagascar).

While it's cool that his origin ties into New Avengers, everything else about this just has me rolling my eyes.
I only picked up the first issue and didn't find it very compelling, so I can't speak to anything but these scans, but it looks like Hickman is continuing his use of vague, boring, pretentious narration, which I do not care for at all. The book just seem really self satisfied and and totally sure of it's own cleverness and it really annoys me. I feel like the more I actually read by Hickman the less I like his writing.
Also, I'd be quite happy to never see another Marvel analogue of Superman. They're never particularly compelling and at best only copy the most superficial elements of the character. The only time that worked out at all was the Age of the Sentry miniseries, which is clearly not something that Marvel is going to replicate in the main books. Also his costume continues to be awful, I know it's been said before, but bringing it up constantly is the only way Marvel will ever learn.
