Over a storyline spanning several issues, it's revealed that Maxwell Lord has been taking over Superman's mind (it took him several years to achieve that). The result has made Superman highly suggestive, which ends with Clark taking out the whole Justice League sans-Wonder Woman. The actual story isn't that great but the climax is rather amazing. The following pages only show half of the WWvsSupes fight.

That's not what the story says. The story says he couldn't regain control with the lasso on. Makes sense. He planted stuff in Superman before the lasso came on, which remained active. But then he let go, he couldn't regain control, 'cause he'd be limited to showing Superman the truth.

So, no need to constantly subdue superman. As long as the lasso was on, Max wasn't a threat. No need for Diana to act immediatly, without consulting anyone, considering options et cetera.

See my response to Deepspaceartist please. Even with that being so, It's simply not intelligent to leave such an oddly-evil overpowered man to live on the chance that you can subdue him.

They were unable to wipe a supervillain's mind with magic for very long, taking away Lord's powers would most likely wind up with similar results; he gets them back, uses them on a harsher larger scale.

Unless were asking to keep him constantly sedated till the end of time? Lasso'd up forever? Phantom Zoned?
