But also a nice moment for the Dick-Damian fans out there.

“It’s all about the family and the family going to hell,” said Morrison, who threw in elements of his own parents’ divorce. “The two adults in the story are both culpable. The kid’s the good guy.”

Well, see now, that's a perfectly reasonable reason to dislike the whole situation. Far better than some of the "well i never read it but i hate what i have heard and those couple of pages i saw" I've seen in the past. I'm sure Planet X was just a slog to get through for you.

I can see that view point about it being anti-semetic, if I look really hard, but that's not saying it's not there, more saying I'm very naiive about things like that, especially when put in a fictional setting like this where there's all kind of in-universe things to 'justify' it, because I have never lived in an area with a large (or even small, really--I was caught off guard and surprised once when somebody asked me if the Woolies I was browsing in had a kocher section...) Jewish population so I don't think I've ever been in a position to see or experience things that contain or portray anti-semitism outside of history and overseas reporting on the news occasionally, without them being obvious. Detatched? Is that a good word? Disconnected? I honestly don't even know if Australia has a particularly large Jewish population. It's kind of a blessing to be able to fall into the story, but at the same time makes posting here regularly a little daunting.

I don't think I've really said much at all now, and possibly made myself look super insensitive and disrespectful, so I will go and stare at Hyrule Historia some more.

Oh, I've read. I read it all. There are a lot of things I love about Morrison's run. But not Planet X :3

Not at all looking insensitive or disrespectful - I'd much rather have people admit that they don't really know much about it than pretend like they do in order to deny the experience of Jewish people (that happens all the time).

Wikipedia says that Australia has 97,000 Jews, which puts it at the 11th biggest Jewish population of the world.

Wow, 11th biggest? I had no idea. That's actually pretty cool.

Also, this conversation has got me wondering, it's preferred to say Jewish person/people over Jew, right? The shortening generally bringing negative connotations or what not, or am I completely over thinking that?

In the English language it's generally considered that nouns rather than adjective + person/people has a pejorative connotation (which can be slight or strong depending of the word & context). It's not an actual slur though, so sometimes one might still do it for grammatical & flow of the phrase reason; or when being slightly blunt in a proud and confrontational way is appropriate.
