Well they got to make this at least a little fair.
And this pretty much confirms what we all already know, the Titans would just be another day on the job for any super hero team.
I mean look, the female titan, on the show she is a beast. She takes out elite titan hunters like they're jokes, she takes out Eren, it takes Mikasa and Levi working together to take her down.
And Iron Man lays her out with one shot.
Also, hate to say, but I'm not digging the art style on the Titans, the whole reason they're scary looking is because they look relatively normal, but have these vacant, mindless expressions as they go around eating people. These ones have these weird exaggerated looks on their faces, and it just doesn't feel the same.
Although seeing the colossal titan towering over the Statue of Liberty is a nice touch.
I imagine the Marvel heroes would have an easier time (I doubt they're as bad as Galactus) but I have to wonder if New York was swarmed with Titans what the level of damage would be.
***mild spoilers***
Also what would happen if a 'Titan Shifter' would be able to infiltrate say the Baxter Building or something similar?
The Marvel heroes would also have a much harder time fighting off Titans once they found out
***huge spoilers***
that every single Titan is a mutated human trapped in an unending nightmare. I imagine a few would have breakdowns upon realizing this if they had already destroyed a bunch.
The arc that goes on right after the anime ends makes it really really obvious (if you hadn't already caught the hint prior). The major hint is dropped on Chapter 37. The second big hint is dropped ten chapters later. Then it's outright stated during chapter 51.
Because Isayama wants to put you in a kafka-esque nightmare where humanity is penned up to be eaten anytime for no real reason.
.... Ok, the actual reason. Highlight for spoilers.
It's revealed that certain people have chemicals inside them that allow them to become human again after becoming titans. When a Titan eats a human being with that power they become human again (and have the capability to retain their humanity when transforming into a Titan), it's speculated by our heroes that the Titans are mindlessly eating humans because they're instinctually trying to eat a human who can become a Titan and retain human intelligence, so they can go back to becoming humans.
There's also the possibility that the desire to eat humans was programmed into them when they were created in order to keep humanity under control and penned up.
Herc: I have known Titans! I have fought against and alongside Titans! And these shambling, mindless brutes are no Titans! They sully the very memory of fair Mnemosyne and wise Prometheus!
Thanks for the issue! I've never watched nor read Attack on Titan before. Do you if the comics from yesterday will be available digitally (I would go to a comic shop, except the closest one is an hour's drive from where I live)?
It's hardly 'hacky'. It doesn't really aspire to be anything other than 'Titans vs Avengers' as a fun little face-off. I'm sure if they tried writing an actual story, it'd have more weight than this.
Promoting Marvel comics to the large teenage Attack on Titan fanbase?
Yes, I found it hacky. Because most of the dialogue is lazy and mostly confined to catchphrases, basic cause and effect plotting isn't there (Guardians of the Galaxy appearing out of nowhere for one panel because of the movie) complete with the hooked on the feeling because that's the most obvious association with them. Among other reasons. Less of a story, more of a random collection of scenes.
And honestly, who cares. That's just my opinion, and not everybody is obviously going to agree with me. That doesn't make your enjoyment of the comic any less valid and vice versa.
I honestly don't see the point of starting an argument about this specific comic. If you liked it, great!
I would've liked it more if they tried writing a story around it, that doesn't mean it has to be super-serious, just something to make it a little more memorable. That's it, just my tastes.
I'm liking the art, and of course, my fangirling for both franchises is pleased.
But the gravitas of the Titans are lost when facing superpowered heroes unfortunately. Part of the appeal and horror of the Titans are that the heroes that face them are just Badass Normals, and at best only young adults pitting their lives at an implacable foe.
That's kind of the problem with crossing over super heroes and horror.
Part of the reason that horror is horror isn't become of the nature of the villains, its the fact that the heroes are powerless, or nearly powerless, to stop the bad guys.
Vampires, werewolves, zombies, and the titans, against normal people, or people without super powers, they are a horror movie villain, they are terrifying.
Against the Avengers? Its just a slow Tuesday morning.
Actually reminds me of my favorite JLA story: New maps of Hell, where Luthor accidentally draws the attention of this ancient demonic super weapon, and its built up to be this big terrible threat that could end the world.... and as soon as the Justice League start fighting it they see through its bullshit almost immediately and take it apart, to the point it starts whining and calling them stupid for not playing by his rules.
Kamala: It's sooo cool thinking that with infinite universes, there's at least one where Attack on Titan is real. Well, obviously not cool for the people that have to live there, but... Ohmygod! I just realized infinite universes also means that there's one where my Eren/Armin yaoi fanfic is real!

Even so, the strangest ideas can still work as long as the execution is solid. This might not be too good (in my opinion) but this sure is cathartic fun (at least until one realises that Titans are actually humans).
