He struck his first blow after Spider-Man swung home.
Pete was telling MJ about something Aunt May said she'd done..
The next day, Pete rode along with the Bugle's new staff reporter Ken Ellis to a murder in Brighton's Russian community, where he took a few choice pics.
Back in Manhattan, SHIELD agent Jennifer " Cruella " DeVille led a raid on some Russian gunrunners.
She didn't do it to get their guns..
.. but one of their associates.
That one struck at Pete and MJ that night, interrupting them:
By occupying Pete..
.. he was able to seize MJ effortlessly.
Pete returned to find his apartment a crime scene, which Agent DeVille (" My name is Cru. ") entered.
She took him aside and told him what all this had to do with his dead SHIELD agent parents:
" And Anatolovich? "
" Lifetime trip to the worst place on Earth. A Siberian penitentiary. "
" So what-? This guy escaped and wants revenge? "
" Sure. That would work, 'cept for one thing..
" ..the Deadmaker dropped dead eleven years ago while he was still in prison. "
On the lower east side, the living Deadmaker held MJ and Aunt May captive in a place the latter felt " so familiar ".
As Peter swung over to their rescue- having guessed where one so obsessed would be waiting- the legacy ranted about his legacy.
Spidey then came in through the window and beat up his henchmen.
The Deadmaker went out the window; Spidey followed.
The Deadmaker went at him..
.. and blew him backwards.
Spidey fell, through the air and his mind- he caught himself physically, and was caught in turn.
Pete counted up his losses- Gwen, Uncle Ben, his parents- and quantified the pain he'd felt.
The Deadmaker answered.
" .. my family. "
Things ended on that note, besides Uncle Ben's rebuilt headstone.

Date: 2015-10-10 01:39 pm (UTC)Also. I have seen one episode of the television series SHIELD (I was too tired to turn the tv off, it was unavoidable). I recognized no one. Look at all these SHIELD agents you could have used in that show! The 90s were full of them! And instead you try to make your own, and they're 12, and that's terrible. You need Cruella DeVille and Daisy Johnson and Sharon Carter and Chris McCarthy and Tony Masters and Mockingbird and Jimmy Woo and Valerie Toomes and countless agents whose names we don't remember but had great personalities, and the real Nick Fury. And Wendell Vaughn. For crying out loud. And talk about Peter Parker's parents.
