"Aquaman is one of the sort of big six of DC. He's not a Batman or Superman, but he's absolutely one of the first division heroes. And I've always liked him for that reason. And I like him for the same reason, I think, that I like a lot of cosmic characters, because he's not just a guy who puts on a costume — he's a guy from another world. He's a guy from Atlantis.
He's not wearing a superhero costume. He's wearing royal chain mail.
And he's not just a hero who saves people and does good deeds. He's got this responsibility. He rules Atlantis. He rules a whole nation. He controls the sea, which is two-thirds of the planet. He's the most global hero" - Dan Abnett
Writer: Dan Abnett
Artists: Scot Eaton, Oscar Jimenez, Brad Walker
Warning for violence.
We begin with the Rebirth issue. After Aquaman takes down a xenophobia Atlantean group called The Deluge down who threaten to cause murder and mayhem, he catches some lunch...

From there, we move onto the first official issue. Spindrift Station, the Atlantean embassy, opens up to the public...

After showing them around and offering them food, Mr. Delane tries some and gets very sick. He walks off in search of the bathroom and a bit later, Captain Sark goes to find him...

Black Manta shows up and zaps Mera. However, Aquaman intervenes and starts fighting him.

You will never be whole, Arthur Curry. NEVER! I have come to END the fear.
Next time! An ending to the fight... that you may not expect.

Date: 2016-07-09 01:53 am (UTC)Now please.. no one post about #2 until #3 drops. Given what happens in it, there's no way you can do the big justice without having more than 4 pages.
Anyhow, enough about that, have you been reading Aquaman? If so, what do you think? I think the writing is fine, but we need a consistent artist on the title.

Date: 2016-07-09 11:34 pm (UTC)As for the earlier piece of art, his style seems very Mark Buckingham on the Titans-ish to me. Was he inking his work back then as he did with Aquaman?
