So a few weeks ago I posted a trailer, and some other stuff, for the upcoming teen drama Riverdale, which is the CW's take on Archie and his pals. It did a good job of showing tone, but didn't really give any plot.

Well, now they've released a new trailer with about an atom-sized bit of plot, as well as a cameo from their version of Jughead.

Well, this is certainly very CW, but I remain a little confused as to why they needed the Archie property to make this.

Same reason for the umpteen reboots and sequels to popular original titles, it has an established audience who they can get money out of by offering them something familiar.

Like the Blade Runner sequel which comes out next year.

Is the established Archie audience likely to watch this? Honest question, I have no idea who the established Archie audience is, and the comics seem to be all over the place- I definitely spotted Archie vs. Sharknado somewhere the other day.
