I just wish that it didn't clings o tightly to the "if Superman weren't Superman, Superman would still be Superman because, ultimately, Superman is Superman" maxim.
Yeah, I think it would have been more interesting, if they'd fully explored a Kal El, who was raised entirely in Kryptonian tradition, with no influence from the Kents.
I get what you're saying, but Elseworlds that aren't all doom and gloom (let alone ones as "Nobody Dies Today" as this) tend to be rare, so I take what I can get.
If I remember correctly, how the good guys win in the last act is pretty fun, too. Delightfully comic-book science while *also* emphasizing that a real Superman victory isn't just about physically dominating his enemies.
I also remember this! Granted, I recall someone getting fridged (I'll have to wait for the next posts to confirm this), from what I remember and what's been posted here, there's a lot to love about it.
I like this! And it makes sense for Kal to spend time as an Earth kid. As Lara says, he has no memories of Krypton and has only known Earth, so he better get to know the planet and its people. Can't do that in an ivory tower and hounded by paparazzi everywhere he goes.
Jor-El's survivor guilt is interesting, and Lara's ways of coping with Raology is, too. I like the positive aspects of this Elseworld.
