Why didn't Future-Tony just tell Past-Tony something that only he'd know to prove it was him? You'd think a smart guy like himself would have some sort of code phrase or even just something private that he'd trust to be authentic. Even young, party-hearty Tony wasn't stupid.

In fairness, Tony's got this weird relationship with responsibility. He thinks he's got the answer to everything, or will eventually, and if he can just get through to people...

As for why he didn't tell him something, he probably wanted to, but not out in the open. Might have even unmasked, but Iron Man was apparently still seen as a separate entity then.

Yes, for his first, what, thirty years, Iron Man was a fiction that Tony Stark used; specifically that Iron Man was his private bodyguard. He had a degree of authority to act on Tony's behalf ("Mr. Stark told me to do this") and an excuse for why he was always conveniently nearby when Tony was in danger. They even maintained that fiction for a while when Rhodey wore the armor.

Past Tony is clearly in descending mode here; he's self-involved and on his way to self-destruction.

I don't know if the "nasal armor" has any in-universe reasoning behind it (I know the IRL story), but what's the deal with Johnny's red threads that he doesn't have time to talk about?

In 1973 (FF 132) Johnny gets hit by a ray made by the Inhumans to repair the FF's costumes...but his changes his costume to resemble the original Human Torch's costume (due to his love of comic books, which Reed immediately disses, because META). He maintains that look for about two years, when Medusa retires from the team and Sue returns, when he returns to his original look to commemorate his sister rejoining the team.
