Dan Slott: In Amazing Spider-Man we’re going to see The Daily Bugle and the Bugle cast come back in a big way. And, no, it is NOT about Peter becoming a photographer again. It’s a new twist. It’s something we haven’t seen in Amazing Spider-Man yet. After 55 years, that’s a pretty cool trick, right? And it’s a development I’ve been dying to get to for a long time!
The upcoming AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #789 starts a BOLD NEW DIRECTION in the life of Peter Parker. Who looks like a very young Martin Landau.

When the Internet said Martin Landau died on Sunday, there were picture of the Oscar-winning actor as a very young man. And the young Martin Landau reminded me of how Alex Ross draws Peter Parker.
Here are some pictures of Peter Parker as painted by Alex Ross, done for covers of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Note the arched eyebrow.

Also, the eyes on Spider-Man's mask aren't glowing anymore.

And here are some pictures of Martin Landau when he was VERY young. The second picture was taken by Landau's friend James Dean. Note the arched eyebrow.

I could be over-thinking it. Still, those eyebrows are distinctive.
Regarding Slott's quote, I like that Peter isn't going to be a photographer again. "Gotta run! Need to take pictures for the Bugle!" was a common excuse for Peter running off. So common, stories like SPIDER-MAN: BLUE had Peter wonder if anyone ever believed him. Over the years, there were stories where "Peter's photo assignment takes Spider-Man out of New York City." Or "Peter is taking photos at a special event when a super-villain attacks." It's just a set up for why Peter is there, not that Peter liked being a photographer.

Date: 2017-07-18 05:31 pm (UTC)Bendis & Slott need to just stop writing Spider-Man, their runs have long since peaked & it's past time that someone got a shot at writing the character instead of letting the same two writers continue with their decade long (Even longer for Bendis) stranglehold on the titles.

Date: 2017-07-18 08:18 pm (UTC)Sure I started my boycot because of it, but really, I never figured I'd last out long, because Spider-Man had been my favorite character since I was ten.
I have a far bigger issue with the way they ruined Peter Parker and Spider-Man's personality, than I did with them removing the marriage.
Spidey used to be a heroic, loveable relatable underdog, Slott turned him into a worthless loser and failure. And that is something I will NEVER ever forgive Slott for.

Jim Salicrup's and Danny Fidgeworth's regimes didn't and during latters regime, all consistent writers were for it (except Terry Kavanagh, who... you know). Hell, the first regime in power after the marriage was DeFalco as EIC and he definitely didn’t want the marriage gone. It was always the higher ups who wanted it gone but rarely the actual editorial regimes composing the Spider-Man group.
As far as we know it is indeed just Alonso, Quesada and Brevoort who are against the marriage. When those guys eventually leave who knows what will happen.
