Batman: Professor Radium, Version Two
Aug. 7th, 2017 10:06 am
Warning for suicidal ideation and (though there's no tag for it) ableism.
From the Batman and Robin daily newspaper strip. Story by Bill Finger, pencils by Bob Kane, inks by Charles Paris. 12 strips out of a 36-strip storyline.
In this version, our villain starts out as the ominously-named Professor Knell. His ten years of work with radium lead to an acquired immunity and, of course, a death touch, the latter of which he discovers when he unintentionally kills a friendly dog by petting it, then carelessly touches his assistant.

That last one reminds me of the short story "It's a Good Life" and its Twilight Zone adaptation. "It's a good thing I lost a fortune. A good thing!"
