One who traditionally has trouble when the opponent's armor can absorb him, and other who needs skin to skin contact for his powers to work? They're perhaps not the optimal choices.

Interesting line to walk, I guess. "Who is effective enough to help me take on Doom? On the other hand, who is too obvious a choice, and is clearly already working for Doom?"

Because Parker is a loudmouth and inveterate loser, and it's *exactly* his style to brag and posture when he thinks he has the advantage.

I wish we'd instead been shown Parker getting the drop on a few forgotten Doombots mistaking them for the genuine article, and getting his ass kicked by them each time. A couple of months ago Doom had a confrontation with Mephisto alongside Dr. Strange; these stooges aren't even worth the time it would take him to end them.

That's one thing I'm not going to miss when Bendis goes to DC - the Hood and his endless cycles of depowering and repowering.

I'm sorry, Bendis. Parker's just not streets ahead.

And then, shortly after Bendis moves to DC, there'll be the incredible new Batman villain, The Cape!

Thrill as some no-name introduces himself by gunning down the Penguin, and assembles an army of villains like Signalman and Kite Man, reduced to nothing more than blank hangers-on to make him look vaguely credible!

Nah, he'll probably just do what he did with the Hood and try to sell an existing character - who is supposed to be an obscure loser - as a credible threat. My money is on the Great White Shark from that Dan Slott Arkham Asylum mini.

I mean, Gail Simone sort of did that already with Catman, albeit in a lengthy and believable character restoration arc that didn't leave me wondering why everyone else wasn't pointing and laughing at him.
