She lives in a post-apocalyptic future where Inhumans seem to be on the verge of extinction. Maybe she doesn't have access to unstable molecules and needs an outfit that can shapeshift with her so she can't afford to be picky, and at this point in her life the symbol is more associated with her than with Ms. Marvel.

Carol still unironically wears the Hala star even though it's been pointed out that the Kree Empire has done some incredibly messed up things to the rest of the galaxy. The meaning behind symbols can change over time.

Plus the "old woman" part of "Old Woman Kamala" implies that she's had the symbol significantly longer than Carol.
