Neat. So there's still some possibilities for interesting stories with Fisk as Mayor further down the line after all. I still echo the same sentiments I originally did when he became mayor in that I'd like to see him use his leadership skills to actually do some good (albeit using crooked methods no doubt) in this new position of power. Though I suppose it's easy to fall back on the habits of just writing him as an out-and-out villain to Daredevil.

Given the current political climate, I really would prefer Mayor Fisk be depicted as a disaster.

He's still a corrupt, murderous gangster. His most iconic storyline has him using thugs to terrorize journalists and unleashing multiple psychotic mass murderers on innocent New Yorkers. I'd rather "he might be a gangster, but he's OUR gangster" be refuted as thoroughly as possible.

I get that, but there's a critical difference between them, and that's the Fisk is SMART. For the general public, he maintains a veneer of respectability. He's not brash in the way Trump is, he's confident and exudes control and power. Trump is constantly insecure and needs to appear to be the best at everything he touches (or implies that somehow he's just done something no one has ever done).

Fisk is a monster, but he's a different KIND of monster.

Yes: a more dangerous kind.

Yea, he'll be taken down by his own flaws, which are very different flaws.

Not all stories need to be allegorical.

And I like that he does, but the problem with Fisk and characters like him (and the writers who like them) is that you can never predict where the line is between "saving my city/country/world my way because I truly care about it and I won't compromise by being a real hero" and "letting my city/country/world burn because I can rebuild it better than before (and possibly more in my image)". It lends these sorts of storylines to eventually dip into self-destruction.
