I've always liked the level of casual crossover between the X-Men and New Mutants during this general era. With both teams living in the Mansion, it would have been stupid to have them dance around each other.
Also, wow. I know things are dire, but the X-Men have dealt with enough mind control and possession and body swaps and other stuff by this point that you'd think they'd react more strongly or suspiciously to someone acting as out of character as Karzitty is here.
I also like the sense of scale you get here. Bioship is a full sized spaceship in the Microverse, but scaled up, he's not much bigger than Piotr.
Far as I'm concerned, this is THE instance of Xavier proving himself untrustworthy. It skeeved me out when I first read these when they came out in the mid-80s; a decade or so later, when Xavier turned into Onslaught, I remember thinking, oh, it's happened again? That seems right.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
