I feel like there may have been a breakdown of communication between the person who did the cover and the writer. Because the cover says "Exciting sexy times ahead!" and the content is "Firestar has cancer."
Not to say this is a bad story or anything, but I feel the cover doesn't adequately prepare you for what's coming.
I don't understand the reasoning in making the cover art so completely different than the inside art.
The inside art appeals a lot to me, but I would never, ever buy a comic with that cover. On the other hand, somebody who bought the book after being drawn in by the cover would probably be disappointed by the lack of that particular brand of cheesecake in the actual comic.
Pick one and stick to it. This weird mix pleases nobody.
Yeah, I didn't pick it up because of the cover (and I was glad I hadn't because I hate cancer storylines and the weird bitchy A-List thing) but I would have been interested in the inside story otherwise. It's not quite as bad as the Emma Frost series covers, but it's in the same vein.
I thought way, way back in the 90's Firestar got a suit to help her control her mutation. Think it was made by Hank Pym, it must have worked since it didn't try to take over the world or kill Hank...
Of course, there are other sources of cancer...
Doubt they'll kill her but I hope her and Vance can reconcile, always liked them together.
Yes, Hank Pym helped her when she and Justice joined the Avengers. Her original issue was that the radiation she produced was making her "sterile" but even though it was fixed it would most likely still have substantially increased her lifetime cancer risk. Though breast cancer is not the most likely cancer to get from that.
it would be nice that patsy, angelica and monica did some sorta of intervention for felica when she was trying to be the queenpin. or some sorta of mention, especially when felica said she lost all her friends when she was arrested.
I blame the editor- this is their call. I bet JSC just got told, "It's Marvel Divas, here are the characters," and he went, "Oh, Divas? Ok, I'll do some posing!".
At times like this I have the sneaking suspicion they just have some guy churn out covers in his spare time, and just attach them randomly to series whenever they are short on time.
J Scott Campbell is an artist where this has happen a few times. I suspect he's a fast worker, and his stuff is quality... if you're aiming for that zone. So more than likely, an editor not paying sufficient attention just leans to him as a go-to even when it's a mismatch.
