Holy crap. I can understand this AU Bruce's hate-on for Superman, given the "mistaken identity" thing and his youth and inexperience when he made that mistake. But what he does to Robin... that reaches unprecedented levels of Batdickery. And he dies before he can retrieve Dick from the orphanage and make amends. :(
The Silver Age origin of criminal Lex Luthor was in a lab, too, as Superboy saved Lex from an experiment gone awry but Lex lost his hair during the incident, blamed Superboy, and became his archenemy! :) Labs in Smallville create supervillains!
I can imagine Alfred also objecting to Master Bruce's obsession. Then he'd end up brainwashed and secretly flown back to England for his miserable new life as a chimneysweep for London council houses.
Somewhat less satisfying than the Batman vs. Superman fight in Red Son, where we get an idea of a Batman who has been driven by the idea of destroying a system personified in Supes.
Also weirdly absent all the classic iconography of Batman's origin.
"Kayoed" sounds like some kind of new extreme outdoor sport. Something involving canoes, kayaks, and probably, I dunno, grizzly wrestling to top it off.
I couldn't stop laughing hysterically at that 'You're an orphan now. That's rough.' line. And that was just the beginning of this Silver Age gift. I'm still not certain what was my favorite: Bruce brainwashing Dick or him casually revealing his identity to Lex Luthor.
World's Greatest Detective: If Superman killed my father and stole his anti-kryptonite serum, he'll be immune to kryptonite. I should get revenge by attacking him with kryptonite.
Okay, I've always wanted to ask this. How come when Superman snapped Zod's neck to save people in Man of Steel, everyone thought that it ruined Superman, but when Batman slaps Robin, it becomes a popular meme even when it glorifies child abuse?
Because this is the product of an old weird time and the character has grown beyond then, while Man of Steel was the first movie he appeared in for years and people were afraid of the direction he seemed to be taken in.
