Antonius Axia and Achillia were heading to Egypt.

They'd been ordered by Emperor Nero to find three Roman legions' lost standards.

At the docks, they were met by Rubria, chief of the Vestal Virgins, who gave Antonius a message for her old friend Rachel.

Their ship set sail.

Antonius' thoughts on the way over were occupied by more than his disobeying of Nero's orders to seek the lost eagles in Germany.

They arrived in Alexandria, taking in the streets.

They met the Living Pharaoh, Ramesses Twelve, who preached the smiting of the Roman invaders.





" .. probably has other things in mind. "

That night, Antonius and Achillia went to Rachel in Alexandria's fourth district, the Jewish quarter.



' - a sound I know all too well. '

Soldiers came in with swords, yelling about " Jewish rebels! "

Antonius and Achillia killed them.

Rachel opened up a secret tunnel and led them down it.

' The passageway seems to take us deep into the region of Pluto. '



' General Sextus Quinctilius Verres. '

Antonius and Achillia confronted Verres the next day.

Verres quailed when asked to account for losing the eagles in Germany: " Y-you weren't there. Those forests are endless, and full of their terrible barbarian demons. "

" Am I to inform Nero it was a demon who took his eagles? "



She explained.
